Rumor: SIG 516 Chambered in .300 BLK Coming in 2012

According to what the Firearm Blog calls an "industry insider", a variation of the SIG 516 platform will be available in .300 BLK (Blackout) for the 2012 lineup. Full details are expected to be unveiled at SHOT 2012.

The .300 BLK round is gaining popularity among suppressed shooting enthusiasts for its off-the-shelf subsonic velocity (220 gr bullet). Its metric designation is 7.62x35mm and it features a casing that doesn't have the more drastic tapering that you'd normally see on 5.56x45 (.223 Rem) or 7.62x39 ("Soviet") rounds.
