Five New P224 Photos Leaked

Apologies for the re-use of the header image here - obviously, we've already seen this one. The (unofficial) Sig Sauer Guns blog has managed to get the scoop on some more P224 info - this time in the form of a marketing poster and photos of the three initially offered trim packages - and has watermarked the images for exclusivity.

Also listed on the blog are the available calibers and configurations for each of these packages. Keep in mind that this is not official information yet, but seems to be more and more viable as new pictures and details emerge ahead of SHOT 2012.

Listed configurations are as follows (only DAK versions will be available in 2012).

Satin Nickel:
  • 9mm DAK – E24-9-NSS-DAK
  • 9mm DA/SA – E24-9-NSS
  • .40 DAK – 224-40-NSS-DAK
  • .40 DA/SA – 224-40-NSS
  • .357 DAK – 224-357-NSS-DAK
  • .357 DA/SA – 224-357-NSS
SAS:

  • 9mm DAK – E24-9-SAS2B-DAK
  • 9mm DA/SA – E24-9-SAS2B
  • .40 DAK – 224-40-SAS2B-DAK
  • .40 DA/SA – 224-40-SAS2B
  • .357 DAK – 224-357-SAS2B-DAK
  • .357 DA/SA – 224-357-SAS2B
Equinox:
  • .40 S&W DA/SA – 224-40-EQ
Extreme:
  • 9mm DAK – E24-9-XTM-BLKGRY-DAK
  • 9mm DA/SA – E24-9-XTM-BLKGRY
  • .40 DAK – 224-40-XTM-BLKGRY-DAK
  • .40 DA/SA – 224-40-XTM-BLKGRY
  • .357 DAK – 224-357-XTM-BLKGRY-DAK
  • .357 DA/SA – 224-357-XTM-BLKGRY

SigTalk note: all of the news outlets seem to agree that the P224 is a chopped-down P229, but the only real evidence of this are the E2 grip style and the variable calibers. I realize that Sig called it a P229 conversion back when it was featured on the Guns & Ammo TV program, but it seems to me that the final product is based more on the P226/228 models, especially with that slide design. Anyone care to weigh in?

I think they chopped the 229 to get an idea of what it would be and a rough prototype to touch but the specs say the slide is thinner than the 229 so you are probably correct.

In light of their latest offerings and the reliability of them I'd sit on the fence and let others be the betas. I'll sit out at least a year or longer, depending upon the holster mfr's actually having good offerings.

Wow, really? Is this from Sig? I'm more concerned we haven't seen as much as a Picture of the DA/SA model. I fear it may be a long while until a 9MM DA/SA is in my grubby little hands.

On another forum someone reported from SHOT and finally posted pics of a DA/SA 9MM "prototype". It had a threaded barrel and suppressor sights.

That sounds fishy. Can you get a copy of the picture and post it here?

Fishy how? I'm not one for giving that other site any traffic but here is the link:
SHOT Show 2012 - Topic

I don't know the etiquette of taking a pic from another site and posting it. Mods, please remove the link if it is inappropriate.

I'd not heard one peep about it, that's why I called it "fishy". But that sure enough looks legitimate!

Don't worry about posting links to other forums. If it's worth discussing, then who cares?

Yeah, I was starting to get worried we weren't going to see a DA/SA or a 9MM variant for a long time. Hopefully this means that they're also right around the corner. I need one of these yesterday.
