| Sig Announces the Universal Adaptive Carbine Platform for Handguns ![]() Well, this came out of nowhere! At least, for me it did. This is not the first time I've seen a carbine adapter for pistols go to market, but it's the first I've heard of Sig Sauer making one. And universal, at that. The Sig ACP (Adaptive Carbine Platform) will mount to just about any semi-automatic handgun with an accessory rail. Rather than requiring a tightening device to clamp the slide, the charging handle simply pushes the slide from the muzzle back. To keep the pistol firmly in place, a spring-loaded catch in the buttpiece fits against the rear of the frame, just above the tang area. Unlike the RONI carbine adapter or others that I've seen, the Sig ACP is made from aluminum alloy. Also unlike others, it will come in a civvie-legal version. In fact, three versions are planned for now: one with a flip-down stock (which will require a class 3 short-barreled rifle stamp), one with a sling adapter, and one that is your standard civilian, no-frills fare. MSRP is unknown, but has been rumored at around $500. |

Om lord! that's something.....we don't even need to ask the raccoon this go round do we? .... ![]() Txshurricane, thanks for the report! Did they indicate any kind of a time line ? I just realized you had a link and clicked on it. This was interesting, I was thinking it would be for sigs. "The Sig Sauer ACP (Adaptive Carbine Platform) is a new universal pistol carbine kit from SIG that works with most full sized railed pistols including 1911s and Glocks. Yes, SIG just produced the mythical Glock carbine before Glock" Last edited by yup; 01-10-2012 at 05:12 PM. |

I think it's pretty cool actually. I'm sure it will make rapid firing a pistol a lot more accurate. Will be interesting to see what they go for real world. I'm sure some will think "why?". But if it is reasonably priced, I'll consider buying one. |

The problem with Sig when they per-announce anything it seems, its that you've had 4 kids, moved 2 or 3 times, been married and divorced twice before they can get (whatever it is) to market. And by then you're too darned old and don't want it. Anyone remember how long it's taken some recent releases to get here? The 250 or the 290.. ...L...O...N....GGGGGG Time. |
