Sig ACP Update: Five Flavors, None NFA, MSRP Announced

Some very interesting information came across the wire last week regarding the Sig ACP (Adaptive Carbine Platform), which was received here fairly well.

Instead of just the original three models announced in the press release, Sig Sauer will be manufacturing five right off the bat. See below, with reported (but not confirmed) MSRPs:

Standard - comes with QD sling mount - MSRP $369.
Enhanced - comes with a single-point bungee sling and mini red dot sight - MSRP $ 499.
Law Enforcement - comes with a folding stock.
CPL - comes with single-point bungee sling and compact laser - MSRP $479.
Zombie Killer (ZK) - comes with single-point bungee sling, compact laser, and molded (hard side) "Zombie Killer" zipper case.

And finally, my favorite news of all: all five ACP models will be available on the civilian market, leaving it up to each individual customer to register any pistols to be used with the ACP as an NFA-restricted weapon if they mount a forward grip (Any Other Weapon restriction) or the folding stock (Short Barreled Rifle restriction). In other words: the ACP itself is completely unrestricted and civvie legal.

This is contradicted by the original press release from Sig Sauer, but the press team seems to be debunking that press release, including some feedback from Sig Accessories Manager Scott Ballard - on another forum - which adds merit to the info:

While I like to scoff at the BATFE's many attempts to enact "gun control", sometimes manufacturers are able to introduce some common sense into the fold (SlideFire Solutions' SSAR-15 bumpfire stock being another example). I love that customers are given an opportunity to be responsible in cases like this.

With this new info in place, I am really looking forward to getting my hands on one of these.
