New for 2012: Hi-Cap 9mm Mags for P226 and SP2022

We've been pretty quiet during SHOT, but it's not for lack of news to post. Sig really put a hurtin' on the news blogs with all of the new models they've shown off this year. We'll be compiling some picture-and-details post as soon as we can.

In the meantime: Sig Sauer is reportedly bringing extra-high-capacity magazines to the table this year for two of its most popular 9mm handguns. The P226 compatible 9mm magazine will hold 26 rounds, and the SP2022 version (pictured) will hold 20 rounds. These will be especially handy to anyone looking forward to getting their hands on a Sig ACP.

National Magazine currently makes a 30-round P226 9mm magazine, but it's not very reliable due to its poor quality spring. Hopefully these Sig Sauer-branded mags will be more sturdy, as they will certainly carry a heftier price.

MSRP and availability have not yet been announced.

Hopefully these won't be like trying to find a spare barrel for the SP2022. They're almost non-existent.

Hi and thanks for sharing the news / linking to our site. I would appreciate it if you left our watermark intact though (feel free to add your watermark to it with ours). I'm a SigTalk member so its cool. I'm not trying to stir up anything. I just go crazy when I see a photo of mine all over the internet without credit - someone else will rip it off this site and won't give us credit.

As a rule of thumb I don't use images with watermarks, but I always link sources.
However, I can be overruled by the boss - PM gunner to discuss.

Did you take the photo yourself?

I understand that but that photo was watermarked and is copyrighted. I shot the photo myself here at SHOT and posted it on my site, sigsauerguns.com. If you had asked I would have sent you a copy without the watermark. It is just a matter of principle I suppose.

Using the image without the watermark is not a violation of copyright law, but I understand where you're coming from. Rest assured I don't want to create any ill will here. For the moment I'll let you get in touch with gunner before I make any changes to the header because my loyalty is first with SigTalk and making sure that my news posts are as clean as possible. Let's face it: watermarks look tacky and really serve no purpose except to generate interest in the original source. Which I always link back to.

For the meantime, I'm making the source link clearer and adding a line crediting the image to SigSauerGuns.com. In the future, I'll ask directly for any images I'd like to use watermark-free.

The 2022 remains an under the radar success. Personally, I just call CDNN or Sig. They'll send you all you are willing to purchase.

I'd very much like a 20-shot mag for my 2022's. Especially if I could get one soon before ski season.

So, I haven't seen hide nor hair of a SINGLE 20-round factory mag for the 2022 yet. Do you guys know where to find them without calling SIG? SIG doesn't have them listed, either.

you can never have too many.

kinda like flying, the only time you have too much fuel is if you're on fire.

Seeing that 20 makes me want a 30.

IMO, SIG ought to go whole hog with the 2022 and bring back the .357, keep on with the .40 and of course the 9 and man, give me a 7.65 Luger version!

And then spin out high quality super-high-cap mags and 6 inch barrels, too.

Yes, the 2022 is THAT GOOD.

Put Glock outta the gun biz and back into making Alligator baggies and ice cream containers!
