Following the confirmation Sunday that United States Public Enemy Number One - Osama bin Laden - had been killed in Pakistan, numerous blogs and small news outlets have scrambled to cover not only the lead story...but to also get exclusive coverage of the SEALs who took the killshot, and the assets used to get them inside.

Although armament and personnel details are sealed, it has been made public knowledge that Seal Team Six (DEVGRU) were the main boots on the ground. It seems that with this information has come a sudden spike in notability of the typical U.S. Navy SEALs' choice weapons, the Sig Sauer P226 in particular.

In Smyrna, Georgia, the intrigue has extended to a slight increase in sales of P226 handguns...enough that the co-owner of local sporting goods store Adventure Outdoors first had to call Sig Sauer sales to confirm that SEALs still carried the P226, then to place an order for 30 more after selling three within minutes of opening the store.

Special recognition in this time of victory goes to the United States Navy SEALs and the Central Intelligence Agency for their courage and skill, and special recognition to their Sig Sauer sidearms for their quality and dependability when it's most needed.

I don't know what Seal Team Six carries as a handgun, but I think it's likely a handgun wasn't used. Time may tell. Some on the HK Forum have reported some Seal Teams are issued the HK45 Compact. In any case well done Seal Team Six!

Anyway, no matter what weapon it was that took him out (my moneys on the ), the guy can quit looking for Bin Laden under his bed at nights.

Take care all!

As I recall, when the LAPD, LA Sheriff's Dept., and US Army went to Beretta's - not to mention the release of the movie "Lethal Weapon", the Beretta's sold like hot cakes... The 92F's were sold as quickly as they came into the stores.
