New 938 owner

This past weekend, I bought the Army Green variant of the 938 and have to say I really like the way the gun looks, feels in my hand and Sig's reputation (I own both Legion models - one in 9mm and the other in 40SW).

Taking it out of the box, the trigger was **** and I was a bit disappointed. So, I searched this list for advice, learned how to break it down and in a matter of about an hour, I cleaned it up, lightly polished the sear and hammer, then used my favorite gun grease in areas listed by one of the list members (sorry, can't remember his name).

So I took it to my fave range today, loaded it up, and squeezed off a clip very happy with how smooth the trigger was compared to new. The take-up and such is still the same, but I'm ok with that. But with the first clip, I couldn't hit anything within the 7 ring at 10 yards. Yikes. So I persevered and loaded two more clips. Now I'm within the 7 ring. Another two clips, and I actually had a two-ish inch group - high and left, but a group nonetheless.

A couple more clips (about 50 rounds), now I'm hitting what I'm aiming at. Consistently. I think this is more me than the gun, but this is the first pistol I've had that I could swear took time to break in.

To keep me honest, I pulled out the 229 in 40SW and put holes right where I wanted them. I went back to the 938 after 15 minutes and my groups stayed nice and tight. At 15 yards, the groups opened slightly, but still where I placed the sights. The last two clips, the first cartridge failed to load after reloading. The ramp had lots of carbon but this was Federal FMJ ball ammo. But overall, I have to say this micro is pretty accurate.

The other nice surprise was how well this frame works with a 9mm. The recoil is completely acceptable and does not intimidate at all. Even with my hands (I'm 6'4", 215 lbs and can palm a basketball all day), the pistol fits.

But most of all, thanks to everyone who already talked about the trigger and how to clean up the action, the proper way to disassemble, and where and how to clean and lubricate the pistol. It made my first day at the range enjoyable with no surprises. Except the failure to initially feed 80 - 90 rounds in.

Sorry. After 45+ years of shooting, you'd think I'd learn something...

Bullets go in Magazines, then in the Firearm.

Bullets go in a Clip, then, can go into a magazine, Like a M-16.
or, directly into the Firearm, such as a M-1 Grand.

Yep, catching a "ration" for the "clip" thing. The more you shoot it the more you'll like it. Welcome from Western NC.
