Great data here at Lucky Gunner. They've added Sig's own 90gr. V Crown since I've seen it last. Max expansion within the FBI sweet spot. Seems like a pretty good choice.

I've run Hornady 90-grain XTPs in both Hornady brand and their American Gunner brand in my P238 Nitron. No FTFs or anything like that. About 150 rounds total.

I Love My 238 , Have shot Buffalo Bore +p , Lehigh Penetrator +P and Underwood same as Lehigh, Have Had No issues about 50 rounds each since it not cheap shooting
Use critical Duty XTPs, Hydra shocks , for everyday, Want the 938, will be getting soon enough, Cant wait !!!

Interesting approach you took to evaluating the Lehigh ammo. I think most folks recommend shooting at least a box of ammo to be comfortable with using it for defensive carry. I would ask why you didn't just buy a box of Lehigh ammo to test the commercial ammo? It sounds like you are planning on using their recipe to load your own defensive ammo. Please note that there's a general consensus that it's best to use commercially produced defensive ammo from a legal liability standpoint in the event the unfortunate may happen.

I also have a P238 that's in my carry rotation (mainly got it for the wife, but I like it too [geez, I sound like "Irish Spring"]). I researched defensive ammo for the 380, and the following were recommended based on FBI gelatin tests for expansion and penetration:
Precision One XTP, Fiocchi Extrema, Federal Hydroshock, HPR Hyperclean TMJ, and Hornady Custom XTP. Check out this excellent summary of defensive 380 testing: https://youtu.be/GNtPHYwcDts?t=5

Hope this helps!
I've been researching this question. Shoot the bull aka ammo quests wrap ups are never final. After that video he posted a video of Lehigh extreme penetrator, which he preferred to any of the ones in the wrap up. He also wrote that in the comments of his blog.

My concern is that while the XP ammo makes the gelatin expand in the would channel, it might not do the same in flesh.

Another resource I use is mouse gun addicts blog. He tests with denim and gelatin and shoots from a 2.5 inch barrel. His conclusions seem different than ammo quests.

Underwood recommendation, "I'd highly recommend you check out the 75gr Controlled Fracturing or the 90gr Bonded JHP! Both hollow points should feed very well through the tight P238.
I lean toward the Controlled Fracturing because it has the most severe amount of tissue damage I've seen in a .380 bullet, but if your more of a traditionalist and would rather use a lead cored bullet the 90gr Bonded JHP is also a favorite of mine. The 90gr XTP is an option as well, but the Bonded type typically expands a little more in .380!"

Another source of test results is Lucky Gunner:- http://www.luckygunner.com/labs/self...tic-tests/#9mm. Don't be put off by the 9mm in the link they cover most calibers.
That's an awesome link...thank you!
