P938 spring compressor/guide rod installer

Being determined to find an easier way to reinstall the rod and spring on the P938, I came up with a second idea. My prototype looks a little rough but it seems to work.

Get as much spring on the rod as you can. Insert the tool. Using thumb and 2 fingers, compress the spring. Push the remaining spring and rod into the hole in the slide and push down to fully install the rod. If it is not lined up correctly, it can be rotated to the right position

Let me know when you decide to market them. I'm in for one.

Easy to make. I used a short piece of 1/2X1/2 alum. angle. Use any material that will not scratch the slide.

I'll check and see what I have. Thanks for the idea and pictures.

Edit:
Just found some stock in the basement. Unfortunately my wife just took my P938 to the Fed Ex Drop box. It is going in for a few upgrades. I'll make a tool when it comes back and I can get the exact fit. Thanks again!!

I just ordered a P238, is the spring on them as difficult as the P938?

The spring on the 238 is a piece of cake compared to the 938.

Thanks, guys. My P238 arrives tomorrow and I am eager to get to use it. I expect that it is best to use it "out of the box" to see how it performs. I have read that it will do well even before it is cleaned.

Thanks for the good wishes, Topgun1953. I was jesting a bit, I have seen posts on this forum that say they like to fire their gun right as it comes to see what happens. I have always removed the grease from a new gun before use and I will do it again. I'm looking forward to putting this little baby threw it's paces.
