New P938 owner doing well at 10-15 yards on silo target, aim point at mid center of chest 10 ring
Any advise of point of aim at 25 yards or same as 15?

Thanks for any advise!

I only do 15 yards with mine. Never saw a point in closer, because if I can do well at 15, then 7 is a given. Also boring.
25 is a stretch for a little barrel. Any bad habit you have will be very obvious.
Put a group downrange, and adjust.
At extreme range, everybody is an individual. I go high right since my tendency is low left.

I've hit center mass many times at 25 yards but it is a blur due to these aging eyes! Line up the sights and focus on the front sight in particular then put over the target area you want to hit.....I too don't see much sense in practicing a carry pistol at 25 yards but it can't hurt to try....

15-20 yards is the same point of impact.
Any shot over 7 yards at People is called Murder.
^^This statement is absolutly rubbish. ^^. Major schools like Gunsite certainly don't acknowledge a blanket statement like that and train for the less than ideal gun fighting distances.

Why does a shooting question have to turn into a unsolicited legal opinion??
How about a charging wild animal??? Perhaps you are out in the open and are engaged by a gunman 30 yards away??? What if your disabled and can't run???? Castle Doctrine states you do not have to retreat and this doesn't only pertain to your home.
Dont limit your training by practicing at ideal shooting distances all the time. The one rule in a gun fight is..."There is no rules."
Every situation is different and you should at least train so. A pocket 9mm effective range is only limited to the guy behind the gun.

Man with ar starts shooting into a crowd. If I am in that crowd, I am going to engage with whatever i have (slingshot, whatever). I strongly, humbly, disagree with any advice not to practice any scenario you can think of, no matter what the odds of actually being in that situation. Practice, especially outside of your comfort zone, will always pay off. Even if just in confidence and truly knowing your and your weapon's capabilities.

i participated in my first IDPA event two weeks ago...

what an eye opener!

an event like that will show you where you need improvement.

distance up to about 20 yards or so for body and head shot.

i think i did pretty good for my first event and my times were slow.

accuracy was very good but i was not used to shooting off center, etc.

i believe you have to practice at distance... whatever you think that is.

for me, the farther i can hit - the better!

i ran with my 229 .40 :)

That's a rarity indeed.....just look around at your local gun club/range and see how the average person shoots....It leaves a lot of room for improvement....Middle aged and older eyes have a tough time, even with glasses, seeing clear at 20-25 yards....If I'm shooting at 25 yards on a target that has a 10 inch ring, I'm happy when I'm inside that ring and happy when I'm close....

Me thinks there are a lot of "fish" stories....

At the two ranges I frequent I am the only one doing 25 yards. Most are doing 7 some with cannons.
I rarely ever see other 25 yd. shooters.
I did get a Vortex monoglass for spotting and it is perfect for indoor shooting.
I put it on a table top tripod and with glasses on I can take a quick look every mag or so.

I know that the standard they teach here in Ohio at the class for ccw is 21 feet or 7 yards.

But I would think it would be best to practice out to your extreme range and be familiar with the capabilities of your firearm and yourself not so much as a necessity but for the same reason people carry in the first place... better to have and not to need it than to need it and not have it.

Just a thought as I know the 938 isn't meant for the longer ranges but I want to know what I am able to do.

Anything you can hit at long range, you can definitely do at short range.
Long range will teach you gun handling much better. It is very satisfying as well. For me target is what I am after. I'm in it to enjoy shooting.

THANK YOU MICKEY, I stand corrected and will fix posts to 15 yards on CHL although i scored perfect on shooting and test, i do shoot at 25 yards all the time! I went and looked at test target and it was 3,7,15! And yes i use small binoculars to see first several shots for fun then lock it in from what I see at 25, its far for normal glasses wear.

Thanks!

I tried 25 yards the first time two days ago.

I never saw a reason to try with my Ruger LC9, but my first range trip with the P938 encouraged me to try.

Using a 12" x 16" target, I only hit 2 of 7. I did this twice.
Next time I'll take a full size B27 silhouette so I can see where I'm hitting and adjust.

I did see a story where a CHL holder saw two bad guys shooting at a policeman 50 yards away. He hit one, and the other fled. He saved the policeman.

I've seen YouTubes of guys hitting center mass with small pistols at 50 yards.
Why not try to learn? After you master center mass at 3 and 7 yards.

I'm terrible at 25 yards, but like anything else I suppose it's all about practice. The first time I shot at 25 yards I think I hit only 2/12 on an 8" target off-hand. I got so frustrated I didn't even finish the clip and just waited until cease-fire.

This is my third try 2 weeks later after focusing on 15 yards. I hit 21/50 in the black on an 8" target off-hand. Not great but we'll see in another 2 weeks..

Walk off any self-defense shooting scenario in your home. You will find that very few shots you would take will be over 7 yards.
