No More LCI P238 California model

Got a new P238 California edition 2 tone
Did not like the Loaded Chamber Indicator or the Mag Disconnect.

Found out here how to remove the Mag disconnect (tap out pin behind the trigger)...
used some red Lock-Tight to hold the pin in after removing the unneeded parts (little cam and small spring), I like the anodized aluminum trigger so don't plan to replace it.

For the LCI I punched out the role pin that holds it in then ground down the "beak" on the end. I degreased everything and added some JB Weld in the LCI hole and left out the spring. I used aluminum tape to hold it together while the epoxy set. Then I used a palm sander with 250 grit for the final finish...

Excellent job! I hate the "shark fin" LCI too. I've been contemplating a less sophisticated solution – just clipping off the LCI's beak with a diagonal plier (then maybe a little filing to smooth the cut edge). The spring will then hold the LCI in the "down" position.

Thanks!

Thanks for the kind words!
I thought about just cutting off the end...

Would be a pain to clean, also
I wanted to get rid of the letters!

Do make sure you check CA laws on this, especially if you will carry this gun. Is it ok to posses this in CA after you make the mods? Honestly, I have no idea - just asking the question. Could you sell it if you wanted to?

When the gun is yours you can make some mods..

the manufacturer can not sell it without the LCI or mag disconnect and microstamping...

it is just an effort by the gun grabbers in Sacratomato to thwart the 2nd Amendment...

Can't get a carry permit in So. CA anyway (just do it)

It is better to be tried by 12 then carried by 6....

A CA compliant P238 was all I could find a few years ago for my wife when we were looking for one. I removed the mag disconnect on it but left the LCI. I like the extra visual confirmation when's she handling it, all though I would not rely on it as indication of an unloaded weapon.

My gal is afraid to shoot it..

I just think it looks ugly and could cause a malfunction, but to each his own...

I am looking for a slide without it...

BTW: I saw on here where the beak can break off and show the chamber empty when it is NOT!!!!
