P 238 Slide release not cambering round

Hi folks. Well now i have a problem. New Sig p238 sports 12 50 rounds through gun and today another 35 rounds. When the last round fires the slide does lock back i then insert a fresh mag push the slide release and the gun will jam (does not chamber the round). Tried it 10 times with a 7 and 6 round mag same issue. Even if i do not use the slide release but rack the slide it will fail about 5 out of 10 tries. Cleaned and lubed gun no help. The gun does not jam when firing and chambers every round perfect. How many p238 users use the slide release to chamber a round?? Any ideas. Thank you

I had the exact same problem. I hyper cleaned the feed ramp, greased rails, and sling shot the first feed for a while. Once I cleared about 500 rounds no more failures of any kind, not even when just releasing the slide lock. Patience and I think it will break in and smooth out for you.

P 238 Slide release not cambering round

Thank you sigop. Shot more today (early morning not so hot) about 25 rounds and racking the slide all rounds worked perfect. The slide release will work when mags are half filled. i think i will give the Patience a try.

Figured it out. I dissembled the gun and put a little grease on the part that chambers the round and it works perfect now.

I've got 350 error free rounds through my P238 .. I always rack the slide and don't use the slide stop lever to release the slide .. and have not had it fail to feed .. I have the P238 HD model !! Mine is very accurate and I've used several different brands of ammo for practice rounds ..
