There have been a number of reports here on ST of "hammer follow", a.k.a., "hammer doesn't stay cocked". In many cases SIG has replaced sears and/or hammers. My recommendation is to contact SIG and have the pistol returned and repaired under warranty.
Not sure of my build date, but can post this evening.

You made the right decision, IMO. Hopefully SIG will be more descriptive in reporting the repairs made…and you'll share it with us.

Will do. I'll be shipping after Labor Day so I can time the return shipping when I'll be in town. Updates as I get them.

Packed in with the pistol should be an invoice with comments from the gunsmith stating what was done to correct the problem. Would be interested to hear what it says.

P938 random malfunction

Report: Gunsmith adjusted the sear spring.
Makes sense because the hammer follow was intermittent. The spring was probably a bit too light allowing the sear to release the hammer during recoil occasionally.
Invoice attached.
Sig did upgrade the mag catch!
All is good and the trigger still feels as good as before!

Final report. Went to the range today. 100 rds down range with 0 malfunctions. 6rd mag, 7rd mag, strong hand only, off hand, 2hands-- no issues at all.

... like it never even happened!

Been a while since I posted in this thread. I've had 2 more trips back to Sig for a light strike/frozen firing pin issue. (But no hammer follow)
They can't seem to cure the issue and now Sig is going to replace the entire pistol. It's been a long process but now I think it will finally be resolved. It's a shame I got one with issues. It's such a great shooting gun (when it works) that I did not hesitate when CS asked what I wanted to exchange it for. I just want a P938sas that works! Should have the new one in by next week!
