P320rx Battery Life?

I'm very interested in a P320rx with the Romeo 01 sight.

But, the only reference to battery life is a Amazon review of the Romeo 01 stating 1 week.

I have three scopes right now, 2 on rifles, and one on a pistol.
Eotech EXPS2 on an AR-15. Lasts about 2 years because I shut it off when stored.

Holosun HH-515CU on a AK-47. I expect about 5 years, because it has a sleep function. However; if I carried it every day, I would expect about 2 years.

A Trijicon RM 01 on a FNX-45 Pistol. Expect 2-3 years, used as a nightstand gun. (This is the sight that convinced me I want one for a carry pistol. The FNX-45 is too large for carry)

I know the Romeo 01 has a sleep function, but that's not a lot of help on a carry gun. Just walking/moving around will keep it "on" the entire day.

The 1 week battery life of the one on Amazon is probably because of a defect? I don't really require a 7 year battery life. But I don't want to change it every week either.

Does anyone have an estimate of how long the battery might really last, in a daily carry environment?

Update: Info for others.

Saw a Guns & Ammo review yesterday. They said 10,000 hours constant use.
That's just over a year, even if I never remember to turn it off.

Not getting your math here.

365 days * 24 hrs/day = 8760 hours

1000 hours / 24 hrs/day = 41.66 days

Oooops!!

Edited to correct to 10,000 hours.
That's 416.6 days, just over a year.

Good Catch!!!

Saw this thread, and thought I would share my experiences with SIG and the R1...

Just picked up a 320RX, and after two weeks (give or take) I am on my third battery...

After calling Customer Service, I was told (Again, this is BY SIG) that the battery life is only 1 week of it being constantly on, (yes, even with MOTAC)... And that the 320RX was not designed to be a carry GUN...

This just happened today, FWIW, I also have a 226RX and it's still on the first battery, but I do turn it off...

So, I think the Amazon review you cited it much closer to the truth per SIG CS...

Seems to be the norm for others too! Not up to the hype it would seem but nothing new there , most times the purchasers gets to be the real beta tester today .

Might look into recutting the slide for a better optic and m&p adaptor kit ?

The battery would be using some power I would imagine when the sight shuts itself off so it knows when to turn back on. Battery life would also depend on the brightness setting. When I was deciding between a Glock with an RMR and the Sig 320C RX I read all the Faqs on the RMR and found one that said on the higher settings battery life would only be about 25 days. Odd that some get months of battery life and some get weeks, other than the brightness level maybe brand of battery? The sight is supposed to not turn on when carried in a holster although how it knows the difference I can't even imagine.

I wonder if Aimpoint is developing a pistol-mounted mini red dot?

My Aimpoint Micro T-2 for my AR-15 uses ACET technology that allows 50,000 hours (over 5 years) of constant operation with one CR2032 battery.

5 years (50,000h) of continuous use at pos. 8 (pretty bright) and over 10 months at pos. 10 (really bright).

That same Trijicon FAQ you cited also states 4 years continuous operation at intensity setting 4 of 8. I am becoming convinced the Romeo 1 cannot come anywhere near that. And it's for this reason I just canceled an order through Sig Pro Shop for P320RX Compact. I'll just stick with my P320RX Full and Glock 19 MOS with Trijicon RMR04 (dual illumination; no battery) for the time being. Not convinced Romeo 1 is ready for prime time in terms of battery life, so I don't want to be saddled with two RX's. I'm a big Sig fan (9 total), but not thrilled with Romeo 1 battery life reports, or Sig's reluctance to openly share battery life info. What's there to hide?

Considering the recent inputs, maybe I should reconsider the P320Rx.

I currently have red dots on 2 rifles and 4 pistols. I estimate all of them to last a minimum of 2 years. The Eotech on my AR-15 is the only one I had long enough to verify 2 years, but the others have been running from 3 to 8 months.

My plan is to wait for my birthday, then change all of them every year. The batteries are pretty cheap in bulk.

As for getting a P320Rx for carry, I got a Glock 19 at Military/LEO discount. It carries very similar to a Sig.

When Sig says a week is normal for a battery, and the P320Rx wasn't designed to be a carry gun, that makes a Glock 19 MOS with a 2 year battery life look pretty good. And Glock DID design it to be a carry gun.

Remember when Sig was the "go to" gun???

I think I'll wait until my eyes get a little older and send a MK25 to be milled for a Trijicon.

I have had my P320c RX on for about 2weeks now, and I dry fire every day. I believe it is on setting 3 or 4. So far, so good.

So around the end of this past Feb, I transitioned my EDC from a P320C to a new P320C-RX. Basically I arm up Mon - Fri in the AM for the work commute, disarm while I'm at work and re-arm for the commute back home then leave it on until bed time. Sat-Sun carrying it all day. Usually once a week I run about 100rds. through it at the range. By the way, I have put over 800 rounds through it without one single gun or sight glitch.

It still has the original battery in it.

I think the CS rep that stated that SIG didn't make the gun to carry was full of BS. I'm taking a couple of defensive classes again this summer and I'm going to use the RX. For us older guys that red dot is an eye sight equalizer..

Excuse the long post. So far I think its a great gun.

I think you got some very bad information in this case. I have run at least five months on the same battery without shutting off and haven't actually left one in long enough for it to die. I am also confident that SIG would suggest that the RX can be used for duty/carry.
