17 round mags USA vs Italy.....one longer? See pics

I called CS and talked to Rob. Rob asked me to send pictures. I sent Rob pictures. Rob said yeah that looks like ****. Rob showed his manager. Rob's manager said sorry, we only cover things if they don't work right, not how they look.

Suggested I go back to the Pro Shop as they are the ones they sold me the gun. Made the comparison as if I bought the gun at Dick's.....in other words the Pro Shop is just another store that sells Sigs

Let him know that's not really the answer I was looking for and I've come to expect a lot better quality than if I bought a Hi-Point (not slamming Hi-Point). Just expect better qc from Sig

He was apologetic and sympathized with me but said his hands are tied. If I shoot it and there is a problem with them they will be happy to address it but as they said "we fix broken things, not change the looks". The mags may not look good but are within tolerances

I'll try the Pro Shop and see what they say. They've been good to me whenever I've had an issue before

Rob did say they are going to all Checkmate soon and phasing out Mec-Gar

That's disappointing. I would have told him, if that's his company's position then I would be switching to Glock and phasing out Sig!

It's not the end of the world. I'm sure the gun will function fine. I'll stop at a LGS after work and look at their Sig mags. I'm pretty sure they are the Mec-Gars. If not I'll buy one and see if it fits better which would indicate a run of the Checkmates has something goofy going on with them

In all honesty they would probably care less if I sold all my Sigs lol. If you've been following my pics a lot of my new guns are CZ so.....

My next purchase was probably going to be the Ultra 1911 9mm but I'm going to take a hard look at the SA Range Officer Compact now

Despite "Rob's" assertions that it's merely cosmetic, based on those pictures, I think it's distinctly possible that you could overrun the mag catch and tie the gun up.
My guess is the Pro Shop will make it right.

I agree! I would not sell any Sigs I already own. This kind of stuff will impact future purchasing decisions though. I just can't understand pinching a penny and burning a dollar. If Sig loses more of the commercial market it's gonna hurt. We know very well what they've already lost in the Leo and military market.

On my P320 Compact there is no difference between the Mec-Gars and Checkmates. It's only on the full size

Actually, SIG has gained quite a bit of ground in all markets the last few years.
I'm not defending this one (or any recent issues) but, statistically, they grow year over year.

Just got off the phone with Mec-Gar. .. they will not be able to offer Sig p320/p250 mags under thier own label..... EVER. They said they still supply Sig with them, but I'm willing to bet all those will be for agency contracts only.

Wow.

I can't imagine how this would be acceptable for any self - respecting company.

I guess they won't mind if you took an impact drill and put stipples on the SIGs on display at the Pro Shop, and said - "shoot them, they'll still give you to hell and back reliability."

Kyle works in mysterious ways!

I thought there was something up when I didn't see them for sale on the website. Thanks for confirming

Guess I better buy the Made in Italy as I see them

This may be true but they've lost some big high profile contracts recently. FBI and Navy Seals come to mind. They both went Glock.

FBI wasn't "losing ground" they were already in Glock although it truly wasn't gaining any. They did gain ground with the FBI with a huge optics contract. NSW was an internet story, Glocks have been in their inventory for years, they were merely approved as an alternative sidearm.
SIG has taken multiple agencies from Glock and S&W and put them in 320's and in some cases into classics ( Indiana and Pennsylvania State Police ) to name a few.
Glock is still king of the mountain but to say SIG has lost ground is just not true.

I guess I kinda went off topic on that. I know I rarely see LEOs anymore with Sigs. They all seem to be carrying M&Ps or Glocks. I was however in DC a few weeks ago and noticed the US secret service was still packing their p229s. I don't have first hand knowledge of the NSW switch, but it sure is in a lot of publications. Maybe P229R is a seal and knows first hand. I do however have first hand knowledge of checkmate mags fitting poorly.
