p320 compact 45acp, should I keep it?

Hello, I purchases a p320 compact 45acp last week. They have such good reviews and the trigger is nice. After shooting the gun I don't like the small grip that it came with, and the slide stop is in the way for me to get a good grip. I have also looked at other reviews and they recieved a holster, mine did not come with one. There isn't even a cut out in case for the holster. So to make this gun work for me I need gen2 frame and slide stop in a medium frame. Everyone is out of stock and Sig doesn't designate 1st or 2nd generation. So I don't even know what I will get. I think that is poor customer support. I've read Sig doenst even tell the distributors what they are getting. Holsters, from what I have read the 45 is thicker, so I have to get a holster stating its for a 45. I have a list of holster makers I have compiled for my other firearms and only a couple say p320 45, most say 9/357/40. I have several firearms from multiple manufacturers and have never had such a hard time. The 45 compact has been out for more than a year, I would think they would have better support by know. I'm considering taking it back and getting something else.

Unless you have some sort of special relationship with your LGS, you'll have to trade it or sell / consign it as used. You'll lose quite a bit unless they have someone looking for it but no availability. Do your research. Not a move to make without some research.

Thanks for your input CCC. I figured I would loose some money, really don't like that idea. I have purchased from this dealer multiple times. I'm going to see what they can do for me. I also went to Sig's website and got put on a list to be notified when the grip module I want are in stock. I made another list of companies that sell the grip modules and I will check with them daily.

HI tamj0506,

I have also recently purchased a .45 P320C, and it was very frustrating to find out that no-one in the WORLD....literally...had a medium-sized compact grip module for the .45model in stock. Also, The reason that the P320 45 model doesn't come with the included holster is because it is slightly larger than the 9/40/357 model so it won't fit in the holster for the them...which is all that Sig makes as of now.

What I ended up doing is getting a full-sized grip module which do come in medium, a couple of full-sized mags, and cut down eth dustcover to fit the compact slide...effectively turning it into a 'Carry' model. You can see the results here......

P320C 45 - Premature lock-back, findings.

As for the slide stop...a new forward-facing one can be gotten separately from Sig customer service, and it will still fit and function on the Gen 1 frame, which you are almost definitely going to get. It seems that for the .45 versions, they have not moved on to the newer slide stop like on the 9/40/357 ones.

But yeah...altogether, I'd say that Sig has stumbled quite a bit with the .45 version of the P320. I'm very tempted to get rid of mine as well with every thing I've been through.

Don't know if you can really tell the difference from these pics, but the difference in feel and trigger reach is night and day....

With Compact Small frame....

With Full (cut down to Carry size) Medium Frame......

Hey Mo.
My Full Size P320 in 45 came with a holster.... and also my compact 45 P320 didn't come with a Holster. But i do think the guns will fit in the holsters tho....

The supplied 250/320 holsters. I mix up the the full size nine and 45 holsters all the time. They both slip in and out off both all the time. Idk why the compact ships without a holster

My P320C in .45 does not fit in the polymer holster that came with my P320C in 9mm. It also doesn't fit in a kydex owb holster that I have for the 9mm version.

I have read elsewhere that certain leather holsters for the P320C 9/40/357 will stretch enough to fit the 45 model, though.

Yeah I can kinda' see that already with the rails. Frankly, I have yet to feel confident enough in my .45 version for it to replace my present winter carry gun, which is an M&P45c.

My .45 full gen 2 came with a holster but my .45 compact gen 1 did not. The LVL1 holster that came with the full is adjustable and also fits the compact. It is available from sig for $21:

I'll admit its a shame to have to pay for something that ships free with another weapon. If you call Sig, they may work with you on the price.
I also did not care for the small grip on the .45 compact. I ordered a large from Sig which fits my large hands quite well. Good luck finding a medium. I haven't seen one since I started collecting P320's over a year ago.
The large grip I received was a gen 1 so there was no compatibility problem. You might want to give the large grip a try. I find it has a similar feel to the medium grip I have on my 9 mm full size.
So far, every gen 2 grip and caliber exchange kit Sig has sent me, shipped with a gen 2 slide stop included. Changing the stop on the FCU isn't difficult but it's not something I would want to attempt at the range.
I've seen other complaints here about the gen 1 slide stop interfering with one's grip. It isn't an issue for me since I usually wind up with a case of slide rash whenever I crowd the slide that much.

I don't know if your a you tube junkie like i am. Watching reviews and comparisons. But i do rarely use the Compact FDE P320 because im ****** off i got the FDE slide. But i was watching The Yankee Marshall video. Dude. After two weeks of him carrying and using it as his daily rig. The slide wear is embarassing. I'd be mad. very noticable. But its a tool i suppose.

I know the colors are cool. But stay with the Nitrided slides. Wear/ last longer I know they are also having issues with the PVD finish on Legions.

But she is pretty. Lol

I linked that as well, as that's what came with my 9mm and didn't fit my .45. The description in the link also says it won't fit the .45. Did you have to back out the tension screw all the way or something? Frankly, I don't even use that holster with my 9mm, opting instead for a custom kydex one, so I would be fine getting one just for the .45 model.

Interesting. The picture in the link for the LVL1 appears to be an exact match for the one that came with my P320 .45 Full. It also looks exactly like the one that shipped with my P320 9mm Full. There is no model# but both holsters are marked identically: "P250 Full size, P250 Compact". No mention of caliber.

I realize the product description says it is not compatible with .45 ACP models. I just assume they are referring to other "P" models. I can't be 100% sure mine is the same LVL1 model. The picture may be generic an not of the actual product. All I can say for sure is the two that shipped with my P320's fit my .45 Full and Compact as well as my 9mm full and 9mm compact.

The .45's are just a bit wider than the 9mm /.40/.357's and the holster needs to be adjusted accordingly but it works. With the adjustment loosened all the way, the .45's are actually loose in the holster.

Perhaps a call to Sig would be in order to verify the LVL1 is the holster shipped with their P320's before ordering.

Like you, I don't care much for the LVL1 anyway. I'll use it to carry in the woods occasionally but never for EDC.

I just tried mine again...I can get the .45 model in there (the LVL1) if shove it in there really hard. But I wouldn't want it to be that way, as it would be a bear to merely draw. Now....if one were to heat up the holster with a heat gun then insert the .45model, it might stretch and conform to it more nicely when it cooled down, but again...it's more of a placeholder holster anyway.

Hi MoRivera, Thanks for the pictures and info. Im at the point I don't know how much money I want to put in this gun to make it work for me. Im very disappointed with Sig on this model.
The holster doesn't matter to me, just another reason I feel ripped off when other p320 get a holster.

I feel your pain, trust me. If I wasn't already such a fan of the P320 platform with my 9mm version, I wouldn't have stayed with this as long as I have. In general, Sig has seemed to spend too much time/attention getting a volume of firearms to market, and not enough on QC and product/accessory support.

Imagine if the Gen 4 Glock 30/30S came out, but all the interchangeable backstraps weren't ready yet....with no word on when or even if they will be.
