320 magazines

Has anyone else had magazines come apart when they hit the ground? I was training about 20 people on the 320, indoor range, cemete floor, just about every shooter had at least one magazine come apart.

I have had it happen once on a brand new magazine. Reassembled and it hasn't happened again.

I've had it happen once or twice. I always check to make sure the base plate is snapped in securely after dropping on a hard surface. If its loose, it will definitely come apart the second time you drop it.

Thank you folks, hopefully someone from Sig reaches out soon because this is affecting several shooters.

Which 320. The release button on bottom of my Compact mags are sort of outside of base plate. The Sub compact is recessed inside of base plate. Not familiar with FS and Carry mags.

readerjjj, welcome to the Forum, just so there isn't any misunderstanding, this site is not connected with Sig, just Sig owners. If you feel that there is something they should know, I suggest you contact Customer Service. It's a dream for most of us, that Sig would monitor this site, and take some "hints" to heart, but as stated, it's more of a "Dream",, than reality.
I'm going to go out on a limb, considering your opening statement, and guess you belong to a law enforcement agency, changing over to the 320 as an issue weapon. If this is the case, has anyone attended Armorers training?

I have several full size and compact mags for .40/.357. The release buttons are resessed on all of them. I just tried dropping them on my concrete patio and they did not pop apart. I did this from about 5'. Dropped 3 different compact and 3 full size mags.

In the past couple of years the former members of Team SIG put a lot of abuse into the platform but we didn't report any specific issues with stock base pads coming off when hitting the ground. I think I had it happen to me once on a hard concrete floor but that's about it. My CZ magazines did the same thing in that environment. I have thousands of magazine drops where everything stayed together just fine. I am sure that Glock magazines would stay together a bit better but they are also much more difficult to get apart. I don't want to minimize your report but I don't think this has been an issue with the P320 in general.
As was recommended above, if you feel there is a particular problem with your gun or magazines then definitely reach out to SIG customer service.

320 mags baseplate falls off.

I was practicing reloads with my 320 carry and compact. When I would drop a mag and it hit the concrete floor it would pop the baseplate off then the mag spring etc would fly out. Did it on empty mags, loaded mags. Three times I duplicated the baseplate coming off and the internals flying out. Contacted sig they sent me new mags.

I can't say I've had a mag drop result in it falling apart. However, I am always outside when doing quick loads and my drops are to mother earth and not concrete.

Welcome to SigTalk Twiceborn. I hope you enjoy your time here. Greetings from the flat lands of Kansas.

Which country of origin is this happening with Italian or USA mags? I've found the USA mags tend to rattle when fully loaded but the Italian ones don't.

All mine have been dropped on hard packed gravel with no problems.
I will give the concrete a test run.

Welcome to the forum.

I also shoot at an indoor range with concrete floor. Have had baseplates come loose but fortunately I've caught it before completely coming apart.
