Anyone using an aftermarket guide rod in their full size .40?

I'm considering trying a stainless steel guide rid in my full size p320 .40 cal. Just wondering if anyone has had noticeable results with the switch and what lb spring they used.

I've got one of the Gray Guns in my full size 40. I use a 17 pound spring instead of the 15 it comes with.

The only advantage is you can easily and cheaply replace the recoil spring. If you shoot a lot, it might be worth it. Otherwise, it makes a very minimal difference to muzzle lift with a 40 cal.

Did you find the setup under sprung for .40 with the 15# or is it more personal preference? I have the same guide rod and am planning a small comparison study and review using 9mm.

15 pounds is under sprung for the 40, in my opinion. You might get away with a 16, but I went with the 17.

I know some former Sig team members who use a 14 with a couple coils clipped for the 9, but those are with powder puff loads in competition. I think the 15 is probably pretty close to optimal for full power factory loads in 9mm.

Cool. Thanks for the info.

I did have a chat with a nice gentleman from GG over the holidays. They are working on a RSA for the Compact model which I believe badly needs to be lightened up.
