Blade-Tech or LAG?

I am not a big fan of kydex holsters and while searching the web for a leather holster for my P320, I stumbled upon two that might change my mind.

I prefer a holster that rides close to the hip, is low-profile, high ride and straight drop. I first noticed the LAG Defender and then found the Blade-Tech Eclipse.

Both are designed very similar, but I like how the OWB loops are positioned closer to the kydex on the LAG. The Blade-Tech loops extend out further, enlarging the holster's footprint.

Anyone thoughts on who might have the better holster? Blade-Tech seems to be more established but LAG doesn't seem to shabby either.

It's not what I think that matters...

What you're asking is someone else's opinion on a decision that's going to be a personal one for you. So, it's cool to get everyone's thoughts, but you're the one who will decide what is right for you.

I have no opinion of either. I'm a fan of kydex because I want my purchase to last longer than what leather would ultimately give me. I realize leather is nice and comfy, and is stiff and resilient at first, but eventually breaks down and needs replacing. I like that Kydex is adjustable and won't do that.

Since both these choices are Kydex, it's which one appeals to you the most. I like where your preferences are with keeping a tight footprint and keeping it close to your body. Since one of these does this over the other, I suppose that's what I would advise.

Good luck!

Both are good to go. I own several Blade-Techs over the years but not so much now because they aren't very lefty friendly. I also own a LAG MOLLE mounted holster and it does it's job.

However, I feel there are way more kydex holsters that will fit your needs, not just these. I own SEVERAL different ones. Look at these

Garrett Industries - leather lined kydex
Bravo Concealment
Black Dog Concealment
KT-Mech
We Plead the 2nd
Forest City Tactical
LAS Concealment
Yeti Tac
Liion Defense

I own holsters from the first 6 above. My favorite among the, are the KT-Mech ones.

Oh the quandary lol.. I myself was on the fence about these two. Then I screwed myself and added a surefire x300 to my p320 and had to start my mission over again. I think I have settled upon the lag warrior since it is light bearing but also I like the modularity. Not only is it inside/outside but it can also be Molle compatible for my "battle belt" .

Got it narrowed down to the Garrett and LAG Defender.

I like the leather lining but fear the Garrett might sit further off the hip than the LAG. I am also on the fence about the Garrett not fully enclosing the pistol.

I don't mind an open bottom holster, but the Garrett has that taco-wrap which leaves a gap along the back of the holster. Not sure if it's a big deal but it just seems odd to me.

The LAG looks as if it sits closer to the waist and so far the only concern I have is the overall width of the holster. I really don't like my holster taking up a ton of real estate on my belt.

If I had the finances, I'd buy them both. I also wish one of the local gun shops carried one or both so I could get my hands on them to see for myself. May end up being a coin toss decision.

Not to speak ill of the LAG but the “modularity” of it is nothing different than any other Kydex. Any of the kydex holsters I mentioned can be turned into IWB or MOLLE with the proper attachment. You can buy soft loops, IWB clips and malice clips for any of them.

The gap in the GI holster allows you to adjust retention. I personally prefer an open bottom holster. It allows debris to vacate.

As for those people looking for RX holsters, a lot of the holster makers offer “RMR cut” holsters which should clear.

Went with the LAG.

Call it a gut feeling, but it seems to ride closer to the hip than the Garrett and that is something important for me. I'll follow up with my hands-on thoughts once the holster is delivered and if it doesn't work out, I'll wait until the next overtime check and look further.

I just want to avoid having a closet full of holsters. Been there done that and it drove me nuts. There was a day that you could get a few bucks for a used holster by adding it to a trade-in weapon. Those days seem to be long gone and I hate having a lot of gear for weapons I no longer own.

I agree that the modular system and overall design of the LAG isn't much different than any other kydex holster company. But I liked how the OWB loops fit closer to the core of the holster and the general appearance stood out for me just a bit.

Hope it's alright but I thought it best to revive this old thread instead of starting a new.

I've been carrying my Sig P320 in a LAG Tactical holster for the better part of a year. Great holster but I find it to sit on my waist just a smidgen too far back for my tastes. Personally, I like the gun to ride just past the hip bone to make it less conspicuous, but easily accessible. The way the loops on my holster and belt match up to create the conflict. If the LAG was just a tad narrower on the front (slide side), it might be the perfect holster.

Long story short, I decided to pick up an IWB holster for my Sig P365 and went with Garrett Industries. While shopping for the P365, I noticed they offered the Silent Thunder line of OWB holster that looks like they are not as wide as the LAG holsters. The Silent Thunder appears to ride like the old Askin's Avenger styled holsters, which is a plus in my mind. I like how it pulls the grip of the gun closer to your hip. So I took a chance and ordered one for my P320 along with the IWB holster for the P365.

I also like how these holsters are lined with leather and really hope it can hold up to daily use.
