P320 Compact-Back from Factory-Range Report

I received my 320 compact .40 back from the factory several weeks back after numerous 3 point feeding jams. The weather has cooperated and I was able to give it a run on Monday. Sig ran 12 different types of ammo through the pistol at the factory, but was unable to replicate the malfunction. They did go ahead and polish the feed ramp prior to sending it back.

After a treatment of my newly purchased Fireclean, I ran 100 rounds of the problem Precision Cartridge with no issue. This was the first time I had made it through more than a few magazines of this ammo without the 3 point jam. I then fired 100 rounds of WWB 165 grain, and as usual with this, no problems.

Now that the pistol was nice and dirty, I decided to run my final 100 rounds of Precision through. I was expecting problems due to the amount of grime on the gun and my past experience with it. The 100 rounds went through with no problem what so ever. This pistol is now boringly reliable after it's trip to Sig.

The pistol has over 1000 rounds through at this point with no signs of wear on the barrel muzzle lock up points. I am very impresses with the finish. The trigger has smoothed out making it even better.

Cleaning is a breeze as usual, but I wish Sig would modify the fire control unit so the trigger over travel pin would not fall out when tipped to the left.

As most of you reading this are aware, Sig has something really good with the P320. Hopefully Safariland will start pumping out duty holsters for PD use.

My new p320c in .40 is waiting patiently to start breaking in. I polished my p250c feed ramp and never had a malfunction with it, so this new gun may get the same treatment...

Glad it is working for you, and can be enjoyed as well as trusted.

In several experiences, I can tell you Sig never really says what is done.
It would admit failure.
I first noticed it with my "enhanced extractor". Sig will just fix it and give generalities.
A lot of feeding or extractor issues are either spring or extractor problems.
My bet is Sig replaced one or the other and no real need to tell you about it.
Possibly checked or opened the chamber a touch as well, but a much smaller chance.

Also polishing the feed ramp has more effect on the shooter than the gun.
Sig works hard at getting the shape right, and shiny really doesn't help.
It is rarely the problem.

Was the 320 having trouble with other brands of ammo before you sent it in ?
There are some very good reloading companies out there, but no matter how well done, it is still a reload, or called remanufactured.
Testing should be done with first run ammo, and I am sure Sig tested it that way, because the Sig manuals say not to ever use reloads.
More lawyer talk, than real world talk, but I doubt Sig would shoot Precision.

They do have holsters for the P250. But none with a light mounted. Here is a link for Copquest.com that shows that you can order a full size or compact size.

It had the same problem with Hornady Critical Duty and the bullet shapes were similar. As far as holsters, some P250 holsters fit the P320 and some do not. I have a Safariland ALS that is contoured to the 250 slide that was too tight. I was able to modify it with a few spacer washers, but Safariland needs a dedicated 320 ALS holster as the slide is shaped different.
