A flared magwell makes inserting a new mag a lot easier because it guides the mag into the mag well a lot faster, so it's less challenging to insert a new mag without looking.

I am ordering this from whoever can get it in first. I saw and held this gun at Shot and absolutely fell in love with it. I am hating the wait right now and hope the release doesn't get delayed.

While on the phone today with Sig, I asked the rep about the availability of the target model. He said anywhere from a few months to a year from now. I need to remind myself that patience is a virtue haha.

It definitely will not be a year for this one. There is still s bit of tweaking but SIG is looking to move aggressively on this one.

This is the kind of direction and talent Sig needs to push their guns above the current competition. There is a new focus and direction in Sig Sauer that was absent the last few years. If Sig plays this right with the Legion and P320, they will leap frog everyone within the next few years. I am certainly getting a P320 Target but dont expect it to really be in the shops until 2017.

I really hope that is not the case but wouldn't surprise me if the actual release date will be in 2017.

Sad but the past indicates this is probably the case. I just wish they had pushed the barrel and slide out to say 5.5" If they come out with a version that has the Romeo sight then WOW.

Alma, what are you basing your statement upon? Do you have company knowledge or is it your opinion? Note - it is difficult to communicate tone in text, so please know that there is no malice in this inquiry, I simply want to know. Thank you.

It's based on my conversation at Shot Show with the new SIG Product Manager for the polymer line, Phil Strader. His response to me was similar to what was said in the video interview above. He is pushing hard for May. Also, understand that Phil is the current USPSA Single Stack National Champion, a Grand Master shooter, and former USPSA President. Although this gun was set in motion about this time last year by feedback from Team SIG that went through Bruce Gray at Grayguns to SIG, now I can say that Phil seems to be taking this particular gun on as a personal project. I assume he will be doing everything he can to assure that well before USPSA Production Nationals in August that this gun has over 2,000 units produced and is USPSA legal so that he and Max Michel can run this gun head to head against the Tanfoglios and CZs.
For my part I shoot for Team SIG but anything learned on the inside would be something that I would not be able to share, so I try to keep to things that are reported in the public domain.

This is exactly the kind of support and modifications that the p320 platform needs to break through and capture Glock and M&P market share. If Sig continues to drive and highlight the modifications that are possible on the p320 platform, then it could become a game changer as opposed to an also ran.

I was a huge skeptic when the p320 first came out and wondered why they did not design an updated polymer gun in DA/SA configuration. Then I took the plunge and bought a 320c - fantastic pistol!

The 320 could become SIG's flagship duty pistol with enough support for the platform. I love the p226/9, and I think that design will go for many years to come, but Sig has to keep moving forward to avoid being left behind.

Thank you, Alma, that is good news! And there's no desire for you to communicate confidential info. Represent Sig well in your matches! The Other brands need to know that Sig is coming for them.

This must strictly be a competition thing... as a SIG lover, especially my 320's, I think it looks horrible. Feel free to beat me down at you leisure...

It's what happens when you hand a P320 grip to a group of competition shooters and ask them what could be changed about it to make the gun perform even better in competition. Aesthetics, good or bad, would be purely coincidental as function was being considered above all else.
