P320 Target!

I'm very excited for this upcoming release and just wanted to add any available information/pictures.

From Tim Herron,

"Newest addition to the P320 line. The Sig Sauer P320 Target. Pistol is fantastic even as a working “near finished” prototype. The barrel is now a full 5.0″ long vs. 4.7″ of the standard full size gun. Slide profile is changed and looks much more sleek. Pistol as seen here at SHOT has a fiber optic front sight (shared with the 1911 Stainless Match for comparison), a fully adjustable rear sight (expect a much more refined rear sight package on the finished production gun), trigger with improved take up and reset at 3.5-3.8lb pull weight with flat trigger.

The real sauce is in the completely new grip module. As you can see, profile is completely changed allowing for a much more pronounced and higher beavertail, undercut front strap to allow a high grip on the gun for even more recoil control, a weighted grip within the blackstrap to further balance the pistol. The frame actually retains the same grip angle as the standard P320 however it has a widened area on the bottom of the grip to allow for an oversized and flared and smoothed magwell. The Target utilizes standard P320 magazines, however they utilize a different more classically styled flat base pad. Expect base pad offerings from companies like Springer Precision, Shockbottle, Obsidian and other current manufactures to work."

Pictures from Tim Herron:

"Extended and interchangeable magwell should be included as part of the package. Also available direct from Sig Sauer will be extended capacity magazines for the P320 which will hold 21 rounds!!

Word is this will come Production legal! Competition kit will come with mag well for other sports like limited, 3-gun, IDPA ESP, ProAm. Trigger is 3.5-4lb."

I need more information! Haha thoughts? I'm very jealous Unfortunately I'm not worthy enough to be at SHOT Show, the pictures and thoughts are from Sig's Tim Herron.

Any ideas on price tag? I've heard that availability looks like Q2 2016. Any confirmation on that? (That would be sad because I'm ready to buy NOW!!!)

I was lucky enough to make it to Shot Show this year. Being in LE we were invited to the Sig Shoot by some of the reps we know.

I carry a 320 on duty now so I had a baseline to compare the Target model to.

The grip is different than the standard 320, but still feels very nice. It was designed by one of Bruce Grays's shooting team members in coordination with Sig directly. It is designed to be a competition gun through and through. It has a super wide mag well as well as an extended chute, shown in the picture above. Bruce Gray said the frame is designed to be very forgiving to shooters grip inputs. The trigger guard is cut higher, and as well as the beavertail. This allows you to get your hand up very high on the frame. It felt really good and with a slightly aggressive texturing, it locked up tight in my hands.

Now for the good part, the trigger. My understanding originally was it was also designed by Bruce Gray and GGI. He confirmed it was not, the trigger is actually Sig stuff all the way. Now GGI does have a drop in Kit for the 320, but I don't have any other info on it yet. They had one on display at the Sig shoot day and I tried to talk the lady into selling it to me, but it was no joy
The trigger is the best one I have seen on a poly gun and it actually rivals quite a few 1911 triggers. It has virtually no take up, breaks at 3-4 pounds like a glass rod, and has no over travel. It was absolutely flawless and consistent.

The sights are adjustable blacked out rears, but may change slightly on the production version. The ones as shot show are prototype versions. The front sight was a super thin Fiber Op.

It was laser accurate and is ridiculously easy to run fast.

I don't shoot competition myself, but I really want one of these. Sig is going to sell as many of these as it can make. The reps were telling me they are thinking middle of the year for production release. Price wise they weren't talking numbers, but said it will be an affordable race gun that you can take out of the box and competed with.

I think these target p320s will be a huge hit. I hope some of the grip changes make it to the standard models. I would snatch one up for my 320c in a heart beat. If the target comes in at $650 or less I don't know of Sig will be able to keep up with demand initially.

I would think it would be north of $800... based on features. Guess we'll have to be patient and wait it out.

Wow and thank you

Thank you for the info, WiseMen! Both the photos and information are very valuable. I am looking forward to one, but I expect that for me it's about 2-3 years out based upon availability and waiting until the cost is realistic.

Looks like this is going to be targeting (pun intended) the Glock 34/35's....

Any word on Caliber selection? Just 9mm? .40? .357 Sig? .45???

Oh, and nice TEASE on the drop in 3.5 pound trigger....

I would bet the target model will be between the classic's higher end pistols and the X series in pricing . Might be on par with other high end customs for less many but only time will till .

I'm hoping it is closer to the Glock 34 pricing, but I wouldn't be surprised if the target was north of that price. However, I would be pretty disappointed if the p320 target was $1000. It's still a polymer pistol...I just know that I need one yesterday!!
