I've put +/- 300 rounds through my subcompact so far and dropped the mag several times while quick swapping. No issues yet.

Would there be a real market for these machined out of aluminum? Pinky extensions, not necessarily just extended baseplates.

I could pretty easily design one and have it made. Just gotta figure out how much it'll cost.

Maybe I'll get a group buy together?

IMO, the biggest cost will be casting and tooling. Once a die is created, the question becomes the size of the first production run. The advantage of the 3D printed plastic version is it can be made to order.
According to eBay, the vendor has sold 58 of these plastic pinky grips so far. Aluminum might be overkill but even so, you can put me down for two!
