James Yaeger p320 with big dot sights

I posted yesterday that I'm interested in changing my P320sc Sig night sights to the Legion X-ray sights. I love the color contrast. I was at the range this weekend and it was rather dimly lit. I had a difficult time picking up the sights in rapid fire situations. I watched the James Yaeger youtube videos about his switch to sig P320c. He also switched out the Sig sights to the XS Big Dot sights. I have never seen them before and was wondering if anyone could comment especially if you could compare to the X-ray type sights. Anything to shoot better, right?

Thanks
jeff

They certainly are visible, but you lose some of your finer accuracy with them. As far as comparing them to the X-ray sights i can't attest to that since i have not ttied them nor do i consider them anu better than my Trijicon HD's.

IMO sights are person to person, what wprks for you, i tried xs standard dots on my usp, which i have been shooting and carrying since 09, about 4" groups at 21 ft, while good for personal defense, not my cup of tea, i took them off and put back my tru glo tfo sights with upgraded tfx inserts, much better groups. The sight picture is better for me on the tfo as well.

I also have a tac ops with the siglite rear and tfo front, i wouldnt trade them for xs dot sights .

However, i put a xs standard dot on my father in laws ruger lcr, that thing shoots better to me with the dot rather than a black front blade and black rear notch.

Long story short, xs sights arent bad, and are very high quality, just not for everyone

I used to run XS Big Dots on my G19, but prefer fiber optic front with blacked out rears. For me, it was hard to get precise groups with the big dots at distance (25 yards), but it can be done.

I had a set of the XS big dots on my glock 36 that I bought used from someone and I did not care for them to much and I bought some Trijicon night sights to replace the XS big dots.

I have XS big dots on my 320SC EDC for about 2 years and love them for rapid target acquisition. that being said I would never consider taking the Xray sights off of one of my legions unless it was an EDC.

First thing I did with my legion was yank the xrays and put Trijicons on it.

I put xs big dot on a glock 23. For quick sighting they were ok, but I really didn't like them. I ended up switch to trijicon's.

I like anything with a tritium dot surrounded by something that makes the front pop a little more than a Meprolight.

I'm starting to prefer a blacked out rear.

Local GSSF is at the end of the month, I'm starting to dislike 3-dots BC they're starting to feel slow.

I liked Truglo, but man all that color can get tiring.

Some guys really swear by the XS but I personally prefer the Trijicon HDs to them.

Had them on my P320c really liked them for self defense switched HD's for more of a all around sight but for personal defense you can't beat the XS's.

You will find every brand and type of sight out there liked buy many. If you think the big dots you give it a try . Might be the only way to know .

I'm not a fan of the big dots or colored rings around night sights . Regular trijicons for NS and plan ole black or brass bead or green fiber front works for target and hunting for me . But that's only me .

Now james yeager !! I do know many guys don't put much stock in anything ole JY says . The guy was a die hard gluck guy for years and Everything else sucked and 1911 are the worse . watch a couple old videos of his . He got to the point that no one payed attention to him except to poke fun at . Now he's a p320 guy and a 1911 guy !! ?? Looks like he follows what ever is popular now .

He just prefers pistols without levers, anything other than a trigger safety and hammers, and prefers striker fire. For a very long time Glock was pretty much the only thing that fit the bill. Maybe a grip safety and hammers are just too complicated for him lol...

Do not ever make any firearms related decisions based on anything James Yeager says.

I have Big Dots on my EDC (229). My eyes aren't as good as they once were, so I wanted something that stood out a little more. As others have stated, these are not target sights. But for an EDC, especially in low-light conditions, that big front sight makes a word of difference and allows me good, accurate center-mass hits, especially during rapid fire. Like anything else, the more you practice with them, the better your results will be. I've tried a number of different sight options, but these work best for me on a carry gun.
