I have a 229 that was purchased in 1998. It still has the same trigger bar spring and I haven't noticed any deterioration, wear, or loss of "springiness" if that's even a word. I wouldn't worry about it much and it's cheap to replace if needed.

In a Sig armorers class, we were told that Sig put the loop in the spring because they were having problems with it breaking in the middle. The loop corrected this.

Few question about 229 from 94'

AD26XXX Made in 1993 according to Sig. Just had the firearm returned from the factory. They went ahead and replaced the mainspring assembly. Had SRT kit installed. I have the Hogue Kingwood Checkered wood grips on mine. Beautiful firearm. Frame says "Made in Germany"

Got my 357 new in '94. German frame sn AD 38***. I sent it in for a re-new last year and they threw in siglites and discounted SRT. My P226 is slightly older. Neither has ever failed in any way, good ammo or cheap stuff. I've said it here before - my P229 is the finest out-of-the-box firearm I've ever owned and I will never be hungry enough to part with her. Mid '90s P229s seemed to have been a sweet spot for manufacturing so hang on to it.
