This is a discussion on When will SIG make an Auto knife? within the SIG Sauer Knives forums, part of the SIG Sauer Forum category; I am a sucker for a good push button auto knife and would love to see SIG produce one. What do you guys think?...

I have never had any issue with my Infidel... And while its pricey, it works for everything I need.

Are all spring loaded "assist" knives so expensive?

Although I've got a Benchmade 5000, I never carry it. My Striders lockup is stronger, and my Zero Tolerance 0350 assisted is just as quick. Just really don't see the market.

In California, I think those knives in the video would be considered ballistic knives, therefore a felony to possess.

I did find 2 Sig Sauer automatic knives at a knife sales site. Kind of pricey, but they say Sig Sauer. Automatic in that you press the button and blade flips out. Only legal in some states to carry. Michigan letter of inerest concerning auto knives as "switchblades" is kind of intersting. I read the opinion in the pdf file and it appears that they feel that knives of single side sharp blade are more for utility than as a fighting knife, where the double sided knives would be more in line with the original intent of he Federal switchblad law. South Dakota they are legal to both possess and carry. It is rather funny when you have someone carrying a fold up knife, with a 2 1/2" blade, sharp on only one side and would consider that more dangerous than someone carrying a 4" blade in a conventional fold up knife, that would be legal to carry.

That Twitch is a nice knife. I have one. Illinois is funny about assisted openers. If it starts with a thumb stud or a lever, it's legal. If it starts with a button, it's not. Dumber than sh*t, IMO, but what I guess I intend to say is there are some decent assissted-openers out there. Kershaw's Blur series isn't bad, either, for example. I'm not giving up any of my Benchmades, but variety ... it's a good thing! |

I really like the Kershaw Leek, and almost bought one, but I liked how the twitch II sits very low when clipped to my pocket. The Kershaw left alot sticking out of my pocket, could get snagged, and it was much more obvious. The twitch sits about as low as it possibly could, you can tell they put a lot of thought into the design. Everything is right where you would want to to be on that knife. Great for EDC. | |

The best auto I've seen: ProTech Knives - Brend Auto 3 I bought the 1306c made in the USA You better have a good grip on the handle or that sucker will come outta your hands! I have about a dozen switchblades from around the world. Germany calls them "Spring Knives" very high quality with that famous Soligen steel and big price point. |
