Your taste in guns looks similar to my own. I also own the PPS (mines .40) and a 3inch sp101 in 357mag.

New holster for the P229 Carry SAS. This one is a Protective Services “Elrod” Appendix IWB Holster (centerline) by Advanced Performance Shooting. Wanna talk about lead time? I ordered this through Amazon on 4 Jan, and got it at my office today.

This likely will be the only unofficial all stainless steel P228 you will ever see.

VERY nice!! P228 is the 'official' carry weapon for CBS's popular TV shows - NCSI, etc. They may be interested in your pistol to add some impressive bling!!

Cheers

I forgot 12131, is this one from a special run that Jamie of Afton Arms did some years back. By the time I found out about them, it was too late. And they were pricey even then.

SHOOT, the Afton Arms P228s were stainless frame with folded carbon steel slide. There were 30 of them made.

Look again at this one. Have you ever seen a stainless slide P228?

Here is the rest of the story on how and why I call it "unofficial" all stainless P228. But first, the first half of the story.

Back in 2007, the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) was 7 years into the SIG P228 contract. As many of you know, the P228 has the folded carbon steel slide as opposed to the machined stainless slide that is of the P229.

Around this time, SIG was phasing out the P228. So, some high-up at SIG was thinking about some new gun for the NJSP, namely, the P229. But, right in the middle of the contract, you cannot just out of the blue submit a brand new model to them. So, the SIG man came up with the idea of making a couple of virgin P229s, rollmarked them "P228", with case labeled as P228, and officially released them as P228s. It's like, "Hey guys, here are a couple of new P228s for you to play with. Wink wink. See how you like them."

Only 2 of these were made and released in Sept 2007. What happened to them, and their whereabouts, is unknown, until one popped up on GB recently. As luck would have it, I ended up with it (single bidder). Incredible! For a non-collector, it probably is no big deal, since it's just a P229 with the P228 rollmark. But, for a SIG collector like me who really loves and studies the P228, this is HUGE.

PICS:

************************************************** ************************************************** **************************************************

Now, back to the all stainless P228 above. It is a FrankenP228 put together with the NJSP slide assembly on the Afton Arms stainless frame. You can see why I said you likely will never see one like it.

Excellent. Love to have one also.

First post here...

My P6 and P229 that I've had for about 10 years now. Bought the P6 at a gun show as my first pistol and have been hooked on SIGs every since.

Looking to add a P227 Carry to the family soon!
