Putting a New Sig "Green" Recoil Spring into an Old Sig

I have an older used W. German Sig P220 ('90), having become the new owner and not knowing the round count from the previous owner I was wondering if anyone has put the newer Sig "Green" 20lb. recoil spring into a pistol that originally came with the 15lb. spring. Any FTE, FTF, stovepipes, etc. Anyone do a "break in" period with cycling the slide and/or leaving the slide open for a few days?

Any feedback would be appreciated

If it were me I wouldnt put a 20lb in it. I would go 18lb tops but to each his own. I guess if you bo the 20 and its too much and you start having problems you could do what a gunsmith buddy of mine did and cut 1 coil at a time until the problem is solved. I myself wouldnt reccomend cutting the coil but I have seen it done to several but I think you will be ok specially if you fire alot of hot loads.Welcome to Sigtalk btw!

My 220 still has the factory spring in it. My comp 1911 has an 18lb spring in it. I wouldnt think a 20 would be bad but if it is then there is a remedy in what I said above. My buddy uses his to shoot NRA centerfire bullseye and it hasnt sotve piped or jammed on him since removing one coil from the spring fwiw.
