Picked up a P225 today, I really need to stay out of the local classifieds.

Its a one owner gun with around 500 rnds down the pipe. Its not in perfect shape but shes not beat up to bad. I really dont know too much about the 225 but the trigger pull is a tad better than my 226 tac opps with the short release trigger and the single stack fits in my hand so nice. The only downside is the 8+1 capacity.

Can anyone tell me how i can find out what year this gun was made?

Dont get me wrong its not beat up LOL, just has some finish wear on the slide. I should mention im pretty picky when it comes to these types of things.

I noticed when i took apart the magazine that it has some longish metal tabs(on the follower) that look like they could be shortened to add another round, is this something that people do or does it cause more problems than its worth?

I would not alter the tabs as they keep the follower in an upright position. If not correct the follower could tilt causing jams. I have never read about any alterations to the 225 mag followers to increase capacity as you describe.

Were you able to determine the year of production?

The chart is telling me its a 2002 model

I figured just as much on modifying the follower but i had to ask, It would be nice to add another round.

Will any 225 or p6 mags work in this gun?

Any aftermarket brands available that function correctly?

And who has a site where i can order a few that dont cost 50.00 a piece

Top Gun Supply is usually my first stop for any parts - http://www.topgunsup...p225-magazines/

General advice is avoid ProMag!!

Look for MecGar or factory. I like the MecGar as a preference but I am not sure if they make one for the 225.

This is a great piece. I finally got around to putting some rounds through it and everything functioned like it should. I have to say I do prefer this 225 over my 226 tac ops and I really like shooting that gun.

I almost hate to mess with the sights because i was dead on with them, but does sig make these sights in a night version or any similar brand. Id call them 2 dot sights, rear has a single hash that you put the front sight on top of it.

I've read alot of complaints about the ProMags not wanting to release from the magwells..

I agree, ya can't go wrong with MecGar if ya can get one for your gun. Congrats by the way. 225 makes a great carry gun. IMO.

I can't say enough about MecGar. I purchased two mags for my 2022. They are extended to 17 rounds (factory are 15). They are very similar to my factory mags with no feed issues after a couple hundred rounds between them.

I too have heard bad things about ProMag.

Nice find on the 225. Looks to be in very good shape.

Similar to my Contrast sights (dot on top of a square). I think these are referred to as "snowman style" sights. I do better with this than the three dot.

You may want to try Trijicon they make very good night sights & are guaranteed for twelve years & if they don't glow after twelve Years I believe they will charge You $55.00 to install new ones if You send them your slide,

My link http://www.trijicon.com/na_en/produc...tns.php?mid=15

It will cost You about $150.00 total for the trijicon night sights & installation from Your local gun shop. Trijicon make quality sights..
