I am waiting for my concealed carry permit in nys and its been over three months
This blows but has let me do some research and narrow my search down. i love the p220 compact Gen 2 SAS in my hand but i have never fired one. i am a bit concerned with the 6 round mag but concealing is my main concern. i would appreciate some feedback from someone who has shot the p220 compact and the p220 carry. im open to any and all suggestions.
I own a P220 Compact SAS Gen 2 and do carry it. Awesome gun, definitely one of my favorites. You can always drop an extra magazine into your pocket if you are looking for a little bit of extra firepower.
The Sig 245 is my prefered carry and is nearly identical to the 220 Compactt. The pistol carries quite well. I carry mine in a Milt Sparks VMII. There are numerous othe manufacturers to select from as well. Don't forget to get a gun belt designed to carry the weight of a pistol, run of the mill jeans or trouser belts don't cut the mustard. Agood gun belt will cost anywhere from $75 to $100+ but in my opinion it is the most important part of your rig performing as needed. You can also buy a mag holder to wear OWB or IWB.
Now i have seen some magazine extensions at Midway USA and a few other stores. I am wondering if anyone has used the extensions. I would only use them at the range and in the woods when concealing isn't necessary. Are there any other options other than the cheap extension piece.
im really curious to know how quickly one can place a second accurate shot and if its some what easy to empty the magazine. ild like to compare apples to oranges here...which is easier to shoot the p220 compact or p245 or the P239 in 40 cal.
I know this is an older post, but I have to smile a bit about concerns for magazine capacity. in the words of Colonel Jeff Cooper regarding high capacity mags "how many lethal adversaries do you think you will be able to handle?". I must admit that more always seems better though. Hey, at least with 7 rounds of 45 acp, you're better off than 7 rounds of 9 mm. Just hit your mark! I think an extra mag is the answer. The pistol remains more concealable and mags conceal very well.
