P229 or P226 Legion in 357 sig?

Good day, I'm in the market for a Legion. Originally I was considering a p226 Legion in 357 sig. However I've read that the p229 was specifically designed for 357 sig and 40. With that said, should I get the 357 in the p229 and if i decided to go with p226 how, if any, would that change the dynamics?

Greetings and Welcome from Alaska. I have not yet had the pleasure of firing a P226. I do have a P229 .40 that I purchased a 357 Sig barrel for and feel the firearm handles both of those rounds just fine.

Welcome from the Katy area.
I just purchased a P229 Equinox back on Nov. 20th.
I like Equinoxes better than the Legions.
Also have a P938 Equinox and am looking
to add a P220 Equinox by years end.

HoneyBadgerDontCare, I don't own a .357 Sig chambered pistol, though I am contemplating it. It is a "High Speed" little number, so I imagine it uses slow burning powder to get that velocity. I think the approximately 1/2" longer 226 barrel, would make better use of that powder charge.... IMHO

Are you wanting to carry? I carry a 229 Legion in .357 Sig and it's the heaviest of my carry guns (~34 oz); I wouldn't want to carry the 226 version. That said, I own several 226's and they are some of my favorite range guns; easily the best shooting handguns I own.

Having purchased a gorgeous near new condition 2003 vintage P229 DA/SA in satin nickel yesterday, for half the cost of a new Legion, I remain non-committal re your choice - here's mine! (not the gun but identical)

229

I have the p226 Legion 9mm SAO and the p229 Stainless Elite 40.
They are both very very good shooters and function flawlessly.

While I really like the legion and the SAO trigger is excellent for a factory trigger I find that the more I shoot the 229 the more it is becoming my go to gun.

The 229 SE handles 40 and 357 without any trouble and does feel like it is made for them specifically but it definitely a heavy gun for its size.
The legion should be lighter but wont look anywhere near as good IMO.

Have a 229 legion originally in .357sig, also shoot .40 in it.. handles both calibers without a problem. If you have any other specific questions, I'll be happy to answer.

Tradition.

The P226 is "traditionally" a 9mm

The P229 is "traditionally" a 40/357

That said, both my 226 and 229 are 40, but I have a 357 barrel in my 229

I have a Legion P226 9mm and a P229 SAS, 357 SIG.

Both are perfect. Original, traditional SIGS.

Not common for a 226, in 357 SIG, but it may be better with longer barrel, larger frame. 357 SIG is a Beast!!! My favorite caliber.

That's what I figured. I currently have a p229 in 40. But was specifically set on the Legion series. I'm not really sure if i should go with the p229 357 Legion or the p226 9mm Legion since i already have the p229 in 40. I hear the +p ammo is also an option which is somewhat comparable to the 357 in terms of velocity. On a side note I can vet the p226 9mm for 900 no tax unfired from my buddy.
