I bought then sold a P226 Legion Unfired

I was doing the Melbourne Gun show and someone came in with a Legion so naturally I asked what it was and what he wanted for it hoping it was a 9MM P229.

It was a 9MM but a P226, with the Medallion and soft case + regular case with 3 mags unfired.
he wanted $1K
I said that was a fair price but unless he found someone who was actually looking for one it might not happen. he said a dealer offered him $750.00 and I said I would give him $850.00 but he should walk around and see if he could get more.
he said he needed the dough and would take my offer. I was worried it was too good a deal so asked for ID which he gave so WTH.

I did not intend on selling it I mean that is a smoking deal (IMO) but a guy I knew talked me into letting him have it for $950.00 and that paid my show expenses and after all it was just a P226 not a P229 so I had it then it was gone. It was in my hand but now it flew away

I sold my MK25 last show (to the same guy) and before I bought this Legion brought all my P226 mags to this show and they sold before I got the Legion ($20.00 each for new USA made). Had I not sold all the mags I might have kept the Legion but:

Such is life

"After all it was just a 226". Huh? Strangest thing I've heard on here in a while

Some of us prefer the 229 to the 226, others the opposite, so not that strange.

for whatever reason, it appears that some, including myself, don't shoot one or the other as well,

I'd prefer the 229 as well, but I don't think I'd have let the 226 go after getting that kind of deal on it. I mean, after all, what's wrong with having one more Sig??

I like the P226 fine. (I actually bought the Legion to keep it just because)

Originally I bought the MK25 and M11A-1 and they were both stellar I could not find any reason to choose one over the other except one:
I could conceal carry the M11A-1, the MK25 was just too big for that.
Other than that they were equal in function and likeability to me.

I felt better to have one main 9MM system with magazine compatibility. 2 M11A-1s with 15 mags instead on one of each with 8 mags.
I am not saying what I believe is right is right for anyone but me so as great as the P226 is it is not a P229 platform; the one I went with

I get it. It just sounds strange to refer to one of the most iconic and desirable pistols as "just a 226" lol.

I would have kept it. I'm never that lucky. If you only like the P229 with the "...P226 afterall" comment, I guess that's you're choice. I personally like both and would consider my Sig collection incomplete without both.

I wish I would have run into that "guy" at the Melbourne show on Saturday. I did pickup a NEW Ruger Mark III Stainless for $300 from a guy walking around. I couldn't pass up that deal even as a duplicate in my arsenal.

Truth is stranger than fiction. You guys PA-LEASE contact me when you need to discard your poor tired Sigs. Okay?

Another strange thing I don't understand is why guys have 8-15 magazines per pistol. Unless you are literally going to war, what the heck in the world do you need all of them for? One can't really carry more than 3 for normal everyday life.

And in the Zombpocalypse, you are going to plastically deform the magazine springs by having them all loaded for months at a time. Then, when the Zombie herd overruns your position, your slide won't lock back at the critical moment before you get bit, and then you die. If you do amputate your arm and live, soon there won't be enough ammo to fill them all. See?

wise words, make sure to keep that in mind as the zombies are charging up the hill for me

I wondered why some have so many mags also.

maybe so that when some wear out they have spares??

or maybe they like having lots of mags for wall hangings.

I know some that do not feel complete unless they have 15 mags for each and every firearm they own, except for AR15's, then you have to have about 25-30

the most I have is 7 for my AK47, and about 25 for my AR, (guilty), the pistols usually are 3-5 for each.

You're clearly too young to have lived through the Clinton magazine restriction era, or the whiskey is making you forget. That is one major reason why folks stock up.

Second, the springs on magazines don't wear out from being kept loaded
