The other day Cabela’s had a great sale on Sellier & Bellot 9MM ammunition for 189.00 + a Promo Code $20.00 making the price for 1,000 rounds only $169.00 that’s only $00.16 a shot.

I purchased 2,000 rounds and wondering just how much ammo do others keep on hand.

So the question is how much ammo, do you keep on hand... how much is to much?

That is below wholesale. I wouldn't mind getting some of that. I try to keep at least 10,000 rounds at home.

People complain about Cabela's prices, but with their coupons I have been very happy with ammo purchases.

Could be where people are buying to resell at gun shows?

I don't keep a standard amount of ammo... but what I usually do is pick up 4 to 6 boxes when I see a sale... and that adds up!

*Usually* I try and keep 10 boxes of standard ball ammo, and a enough FMJ's to have ALL of my weapons fully loaded with an extra box per weapon.

I don't have a sent amount. I just never want to be in the situation of a couple of years ago when ammo was scarce. But I don't believe it is possible to have too much.

Cabelas recently had that for $189.95/thousand and free shipping. I bought 1k. I’ve shot a bit of S&B in the past, and it’s good stuff. If I could afford it, I would have bought 2k rounds. With 9mm, it’s getting to the point where I like to keep 1k rounds or more on hand cause with two of us shooting it, we go thru it fast. When I get down to 500 rounds, I start looking for the next good deal. I’m the same way with .45 ACP and .223/5.56. It’s a danged expensive hobby.

Since the last election I keep no less than 2000 rounds on hand and add to that when I find good deals. Prices have come way down and no I usually buy what I shoot at the range at the local gun store to help maintain my stash.

My local Cabelas has Federal Champion in .40 on sale for $12.99 so I just picked up some of that also.

Cabelas is easily my favorite store to buy ammo these days. I usually get a 10 percent off coupon in the mail from them every month or so that make such deals even sweeter.

Since I roll my own, I don't necessarily have a lot of completed rounds laying around - but I have many thousands of rounds worth of components.

I had abouy 5K of military Winchester 9mm until the post sample MP5 and G18C found its way into my wife's hands and she put a dent in that ammo. Personally I don't think you can have too much ammo, I was pushing 75K of ammo at one time. That was about 10 years ago when ammo was much cheaper than now days, I hate to pull that line but damn prices have gone up. I remember when academy would put Winchester white box on sale as little as 5 years ago for $4.99 at times.

I've got 2500 rounds on hand. This is a little higher than normal but I'm trying to break in my new HK and I hate going to the store to pick ammo just before I shoot every time. I usually only get about a 45 minutes to shoot so having it on had really makes good use of my time.

I like to buy up a quantity of ammo when I can find it for a decently low price...if I have the money at the time to afford it. Sometimes you can find bargains online if you buy 500-1000 rounds. If I don't have enough cash for that, I'll just buy a few boxes at Walmart. I also remember the ammo shortage of a couple of years back and I don't want to have to search again for something to shoot or pay $19.00 a box for 9mm range ammo again because it's all there is available. I went the reloading route (I did not enjoy it) about 30 years ago and I really don't want to go there again but it may eventually come to that.
