Sorry for the long write up, but I guess I can say my P238 Equinox is officially ready for carry. While I did not plan on any issues, I will never put a gun, mag, etc. in rotation without first being tested to ensure functionality. My goal was to have this completed by the weekends close so it would be available next week.

After picking up the gun last weekend, I performed a thorough inspection, clean, and lube. I was able to get some time for the initial outing on Thursday. I ran a variety of ammo that day consisting of a box of each Magtech, S&B, and American Eagle. All went well. I did notice I had to adjust my grip slightly due to the ambi safety. My Rainbow P238 is non ambi and I hold much higher, almost too high, but this cannot be done comfortably with the Equinox and the ambi safety. After the outing, I went home and performed a thorough inspection, clean, and lube.

Yesterday, I went out for another session. This outing a ran a box each of PMC and American Eagle. I then ran a couple mags of Magtech JHP in +P variant as this may be my carry load and I was given them (free!):D. I am not entirely opposed to carrying FMJ either for potentially better penetration. All went well again on this outing. After these two outings, I feel confident in the functionality and my accuracy with this particular gun so I feel good in giving it the nod.

As I and several other users have posted, the P238 and P938 are both very accurate guns assuming you do your part. With this being my second P238, I am quite used to the platform. Below is one of my targets from the weekend. Instead of buying targets, I typically just use some of my old office paper and trace a credit card with about a 1.25 square in the center. Then a quick coloring done by me or the kids and off I go. I will buy silhouette targets though. When shooting at a further distance they are a little easier to focus on than my homemade. This was shot fairly rapid with the +P loading at 7 yds standing. 6 rds w/ flush fit mag. Should be more than adequate for my needs.
