Which .45 ACP ammo for a P220?

What are good dependable .45 practice rounds, and what is good for use as defensive ammo in a P220?

The reason I ask is, I have a co-worker who has a P220 Equinox, and his had issues even loading certain rounds (no sure which brand) into his magazines.

Any name brand works for practice. I like Federal Guard Dog for defense. It shoots well in both the P220 and P245.

Thanks, I will try some of those.

I have an opportunity to get some Hornady Critical defense at a decent price. What's your opinions on them?

Any name brand for practice. Federal HST for defense with Golden Saber or Gold Dots second.

I have heard good things about Hornady, but can't speak from experience. I use 230gr Federal HST rounds for defense rounds at home and Remington 230 +P golden Sabers elsewhere in all of my .45's. Both have been perfect performers in my limited experience.
It will be an experimental process. Some rounds may not like your gun, or vice versa. Just be sure your defensive load, whatever you decide on, has been properly tested with a high number of rounds without failure in your gun. That's what matters most. Any .45 is going to do the job so long as it functions, and hits where you're aiming.
