I picked up a 239 last week to try; for me the decision was easy- basically an up-sized 230 in an effective caliber, plus the price was too good to pass up.

Place that offered them sold about a dozen at once over a 2-3 day period in varying condition.
Not sure if they were trade-ins or what.
they we're going for $280-$380 so I jumped on this one because it looked to me like it had just sat in a drawer it's whole life.
At $330 I think I did ok. The gun is basically new aside from some very slight scratches.
Not sure if it has even been shot outside the factory, maybe a couple clips. Initial cleaning turned up nothing but dust. Date is right around Jan 2000.
It felt a little top heavy and slippery grip,
But I slapped some houge rubber on there and with a half full/full clip it feels much better and well balanced. An added bonus I realized after purchase is the ease in switching calibers. Since mine is a 40SW looks to me like a barrel and maybe a little micro-fitting is all that's needed.
I ebayed a short width trigger to try and may drop in a SRT kit too- I do have kinda small boy hands, I'll see where I end up after spitting a few hundred rounds.

Can't wait to run it through the paces later today!
You can "slim down" your grip, with a pair of G-10s, either the Checkered or the Piranha, either one give a good non slip grip and a slight reduction in size. Since my initial comment on this thread, I have gotten one myself, in .40S&W, as seen below...
