SP2022 WE20229B and a few other questions.

So I found a relatively good price for this gun ($424). But I cant find anything on the model number. Every site that lists it says the same generic description and picture. What I found it its a 9mm (15+1) and contrast sights and 2 mags in a cardboard box. So is the same as the regular SP2022 with normal model numbers?

And here is the same description everywhere.

"The Sig Sauer SP2022 is the latest version of Sig's popular polymer framed pistol and features a durable, lightweight and wear-resistant polymer frame with the added tactical versatility of an integrated accessory rail. The slide is machined from a solid block of stainless steel and protected by Sig's black nitron finish. The SP2022 can easily be converted from a double-action/single-action to a double-action only configuration through a unique integral fire control unit. It also features the Sig Sauer four-point safety system. Item 90022 comes with 2 magazines instead of one and is packaged in a cardboard box. "

And BTW, this is my first gun purchase and is being mainly used as a car gun (I have read all the for and against arguments here). I work in Downtown Detroit and the office I work for has a strict No Gun law. The walking half mile leaves me feeling vulnerable and will probably pick up some pepper spray or such. I really want to have a gun in case I break down on the commute. Would it be wise to upgrade to 40 cal instead for $20 more? I don't want to spend tons of money on a really nice gun and have a chance of it being stolen. And what are your feelings on those gun vaults that chain up to your seat rails?

Thanks for the Help,
Mike

Great Price On That 2022

I just picked up my 2022 on Monday. On the box it has E2022-9-B. It only came with 1 mag & I paid $490 all in. Not sure if the "W" has to with the extra mag or not but it is the only thing different than mine. My owner's manual lists the SP2022 & SP2022M the difference being the M model has a manual safety added.
I'm still looking in the manual for the "fire control " where I can change it to SA only. I'd say go with 9mm & learn how to shoot the gun well. That will go a lot further in SD than a .40 sloppily shot.

I listed the "item numbers" from the Sig web site. Now I'm curious.
E2022-9-B, E2022-9-BSS, SP2022-9-B, SP2022-9-BSS, E2022-40-B, E2022-40-BSS, SP2022-40-B, SP2022-40-BSS

This is my 1st purchase of a polymer & a semi-auto. No remorse. The gun fits my small hand well & comes up to sight very naturally.
Good luck.

Thanks. Yea I think I am about to go ahead and order it. Price is right. It was between that or a Glock 19, but I'm really not a fan of them... they just are uninspiring.

I dont think you can convert the 2022 to SA only because there would be no way to carry it cocked and locked. Theres a way to convert it to DAO but not SA only.

I carry a 2022 daily with one in the chamber with the hammer down

Ok.... Now I need some opinions.

The we20229b comes with 2 mags and that's it for $424 plus the $30 for ffl.

Now sp2022 with siglites, 1 mag, and extra grip is $498 plus the $30 ffl.

Question is are the siglite sites worth the extra money? Are they bright?

Sometimes I hate decisions...

They are bright and easily seen even at sunset. Double check the maufacturing date first though, since they tend to dim over 7 years or more.

The date should be on the box.

I carry it almost daily (concealed) especially when I'm alone working at my shop. Just in case someone decides to help themselves with the computers, tools or parts. (This actually happened to my wife when she was working at the Dem campaign office in 08 when someone walked right in, nobody noticed the guy and he waltzed out with 3 laptops)

The only way to make this decision is to discover your perceived recoil preferences. Aside from perceived recoil being subjective, there is a difference between 9mm and 40 S&W. I perceive 9mm to have less recoil and less muzzle flip than 40 S&W. My advice is to go to a range that rents pistols and to shoot both calibers. Whichever cartridge gives you the best performance on target is the one you want to buy.

I shoot both calibers. It took more time and practice to shoot 40 S&W well than 9mm using similar platforms: Glock 17 & Glock 22.

Thanks for the feedback. I was at the range a few months back and they would not rent out any 9mm due to not having enough ammo. I did shoot the p229 in 40 and I liked it. Figured for carrying I would want the extra rounds with good ammo and the 9mm would probably be even easier to shoot. I went ahead and ordered the 9mm with the night sights. By the time I factored in aftermarket sights, installation, and possibly having to tweak the sights to be accurate wasn't wasn't worth it. Plus I found a stock 15 round mag for 40 shipped or the metger 17 for about the same price. So it ended up being cheaper to get the one with the siglites.

Btw... Please excuse any spelling mistakes. My phone isn't the smartest :-)

I think you will be well served getting the SIGLITE equipped pistol. You can purchase other mags as you need/want them.
