Got My Custom P227 Equinox! Minor Issue?

Gorgeous gun. I need to thoroughly clean it and mg replacement P229 SAS GEN2.

I did do a simple field strip and reassemble for inspection. It has a little issud that I'm not sure about.
When slipping the slide assembly back on, the very bottom corner tips of the barrel ramp bumps into the front edge of the locking insert. You can actually see a little of the black finish missing from the bottom corners of the ramp, where thd bottom of ramp would slip over the top of locking block. But the finish on the top of locking block is fine so I think the bottom corners of the barrel ramp were probably worked by a Sig smith to clear the locking block. Those bare spots on the bottom corners of the ramp are smooth.

As a result, the slide assembly takes a little "encouragement" to get the assembly past the front edge of the locking block. Very little pressure by hand. Not like I have to smack it.

My Sig P227 Nitron did not have that problem.

Any concerns from the Masres that I should consider with my P227 Equinox?

Thanks.

Needs a little tap

Two things to do with that new pistol.

1. Decock the hammer when removing the slide and putting it back on.

2. If you want to, do this: Remove the Slide assembly and remove the Recoil spring assembly. Remove the Barrel but place right back in to the Slide. With the Slide resting on the sights, take a wooden handled hammer and tap with the bottom of the handle of the hammer on that large lug that is on the bottom of the Barrel. This tapping will cause the barrel to move slightly deeper into the Slide. The finish on the Barrel will compress a little into the barrel bushings. Then the lockup on the bottom of the feed ramp should pass by the locking insert.

Other than that, you can shoot a few rounds and the firing will do the same thing. :)

Great. Thanks!
I'm going to give it a good cleaning cleaning today and will post pics later. :)

It's not uncommon, or at least I saw it happen with a P220 at the LGS I was disassembling...

it comes down to the barrel being too tight...

either you polish the barrel lock a bit more (a few thousands of an inch) or you fire a few hundred rounds and it should smooth itself out...

it will give you exceptional locking /tight fitting but may affect reliability until it's broken in
