Scored me 2 P229 40 S&W today

So the story goes, I've been looking for a P228/P229 Frame non-railed for a P228 German slide I have for quite sometime. Every good condition frame I could find was well over $350.

I finally decided with the influx of police trade-in P229 in 40 S&W becoming available that I could find a cheap one and use the frame and sell off the 40 S&W slide in the future.

gtdistributorsaustin on GB had a number of them for sale with very detailed pictures. I found a non-rail version with the frame in great shape and also noticed a great looking P229 railed frame. I bid on both and was shocked I won both. No one else bid on them and I picked them up for $379 each. Total with shipping, sales tax and transfer fees was ~$850. Not bad for 2 great guns.

The non-rail version from 2012 has the stainless slide and it shows some slide wear and a shiny spot on the frame from being holsters, but doesn't look like it was shot much.

The rail version from 2009 has an almost pristine slide and a shine spot on the frame under the trigger from being holstered. It doesn't look like it has been shot. No barrel wear and mag well looks great. It came in a Black cardboard box with the correct stickers on the box. I've never seen this black box before from Sig.

Both have night sights that are still bright. Both guns also included 3 mags with some scuffs on the baseplates on a few of them. I'm sending the stainless slide off to gray guns to have it bead blasted and may use it on my other P229 357 Sig.

Plus it came with some cool stickers that I don't have.

For those folks that bought the p228 slides from copes last year and need a frame. This maybe a cheaper alternative solution for you.

So I looked at your pics again. I see your non-rail is from 2012. I didn't realize SIG was still making non-rail P229's that recent. Originally I thought it was either a CPO or NOS, but based on the frame saying "SIG Sauer" instead of "SIGArms", 2012 is probably right.

Beautiful. I recently got a similar P229 TT .40 from Summit.
I have had good luck with them but this was not in good condition, yours is much better and over $100 cheaper! Mark offered to take it back but didn't, not worth the additional costs and no time.
