Sig Sauer P226 E2 version School Me

Did all E2 versions come with a Short Reset Trigger? I just bought a used one that has the Short "Reach" Trigger, but it does not appear to be the "Reset" version. Thank you.

I don't think so. Remember E2 stands for Enhanced Ergonomics. I think they were only about a different grip.

I have a p226 E2 and it doesn't have have an SRT. I think E2 only refers to the new grips which I think are great.

e2 grips snap into the threaded inserts & can be swapped for conventional grips if they get loose or not wanted any more.

If you are talking about the E2 model that has E2 (E-squared) on the slide and was introduced in 2009, I believe, then yes it came standard with the SRT.

As bbl mentioned before E2 stood for "Enhanced Ergonomics", which SIG accomplished with a Short Trigger, SRT, and the first use of the E2 grips. I believe the P229 E2 may have also been the first 9mm P229 with the P229-1 frame with the wider magazine well and long extractor slide.

I have one. It does not have the SRT trigger. Don't think it needs one, really. I shoot well with it.

I think the Sig nomenclature breaks down due to Sig using 2 similar terms for 2 different models/triggers. “E2” stands for Enhanced Ergonomics but was available at the same time as the "Enhanced Elite" models. In addition there is the debacle of the whole Short REACH trigger and the SRT (which we all know are different). Enhanced Ergonomics vs Enhanced Elite and Short Reach vs Short Reset. What we need is someone with a tiny bit more creativity at naming.

There is no "debacle" regarding the Short (reach) Trigger as far as I know. It is a self-inflicted internet wound. SIG has never referred to the thin trigger as a "Short Reach Trigger" in any of their documentation or ads that I know about. That term is a gun forum creation. SIG has always referred to the trigger as a Short Trigger and in the last few years described it as a "reduced reach trigger".

If someone can show me any official SIG doc that uses the term short reach trigger, I will be happy to eat crow and get off my soapbox.

By the way, I have always seen the Enhanced Elite referred to as an EE, but maybe that is also a gun forum creation.

Oh, so now we can call SRT triggers "R2" (R Squared) triggers for reduced reach? Another term is born!

I have read that the Short Reset Trigger was standard the year (2010) the E2 (symbol on slide) was manufacturered and was just wondering. Thanks for the info everyone.

I think the source of the confusion is that regular P226s with E2 grips are being called E2 models. I don't know if SIG officially calls all pistols with E2 grips E2s, but just about every seller I've seen does.

The E2 (E-squared) model was only made for about a year, being discontinued in late 2010. The reason I heard for discontinuing the E2 models was that SIG was going to start making the E2 configuration the standard P226 configuration with the Short Trigger, E2 grips, etc., except without the SRT. That is why everyone who has a P226 "E2" doesn't have the SRT, in my opinion.

As an aside, there have been many posters on gun forums who have mistaken the "E" in the SIG model numbers as an indicator of an E2 model instead of as the correct indicator of a model with standard capacity mags (as opposed to ones with 10rd mags).

This isn't gospel, but I believe SIG did advertise it as the P226E2, on their official site, when they first introduced the E2 grips. The model was later changed to "P226 Nitron". This is how it was relayed to me by our armorer's course instructor, and it's also what I seem to recall from my own memory as well.

No, the SRT is still and has always been a Short Reset Trigger.

I believe what you are saying is correct and what I remembered and had said differently in a previous post. The E2 grips were first introduced on the E2 (E-squared - Enhanced Ergonomics) P226 and P229 models (funny how that happened ). When SIG dropped the E2 (E-squared) models in favor of making all of the E2 features except the SRT standard on the regular P226 and P229 models, I assume that they called them the P226 Nitron and P229 Nitron.
