P229R Range Report

This has been a long time coming.
Truth is, I really thought that there might be something wrong with her. The trigger has A LOT of creep in her. And being a German framed 09 model, I was hoping I would get lucky and she would break like glass. But that wasn't to be.....So when I first shot her I knew I might have a little trouble adjusting to a trigger with a lot of creep.
What I didn't expect was just how bad I did. It was so bad I thought there may be something wrong with the crown!
Imagine that lol.....couldn't be me could it????!!
At any rate I talked with a member that I think knows a good bit about Sigs and shooting. In a nutshell he recommended I look at me and not the Sig. So I did. What I found out is that X5 triggers and 1911 triggers can get you off your game so to speak. The triggers on these weapons are so nice, it really makes getting tight groups much easier. So it took me about 3 boxes of shells and paying attention to the fundamentals of shooting - basically disciplining myself to shoot this pistol with any accuracy. So, creepy trigger or not, you can achieve good results if you discipline yourself. And still yet, even though my groups are what I would call decent, I still shoot low and to the left. Im jerking at the trigger and tightening up too much. I think the pics below will show that. And also, to be fair, I was in a rush to complete the last target with my 1911. My dad was rushing me to plant some rose bushes.....and well...I was in a hurry lol. However, I do plan to have Robert Burke do a trigger job and qtr on her.
Btw, targets were at 21 feet.

That's a good looking P229. Is that an AM serial? It looks just like my AM90XXX.

She sure is. I just cannot wait until I get the money saved up for Robert to do his magic on her....
I bought her from a member here on the forum.
I couldn't tell her from new. Man, he knows how to take care of a pistol...
Mine is AM123xxx

I've got some G10's on mine, and put a SRT in it. Now it's near perfect.

For giggles I put a WG P226 trigger (with the grooves) on it.

Nice groups. I guess more practice????

My most accurate gun I own, is my Remington 1911 R1S.

Destroys all bulls eyes! I am connected, for some reason, to that gun.

Absolutely. I wanna break myself from shooting low left.
It'll just take more practice. Practice, practice, practice...
That shooting chart is very handy. It'll let ya know what your doing wrong.

Although Ive only ever put 1 box of shells thru her, I shoot my X5 Black and White better- at least had the best groups Ive ever shot. A very close 2nd would be my X5 Comp tuned by Robert Burke and the P229 Sport I used to have. Those are 3 extremely smooth shooting pistols, with the 9MM Black and White being the best. The recoil is just so light with her....

Hogue Finger Groove

Not nearly as nice as G10, but very affordable
I wish I could afford a nice pair of G10. But, I like these really well for the time being.

I had those on my P229R for a long time before getting the G10's.
