New SP2022- Recomended Cleaning/Lube?

Hi all- Just got my 1st Sig- an SP2022. Haven't fired it yet and I was wondering:

-What prep to do before 1st firing
-Best cleaning/lube products to use
-Best cleaning procedure
-Lube points and amout of lube to use

Thanks in advance for any info given. If this gun shoots half as good as it looks, I'm gonna love it!

Flork's Lubrication of SIG pistol rails
That link should cover lube, and i clean both of my poly framed pistols with plain old Hoppes solvent. Itmakes the old grease come off super easy.

Keep the frame away from Powder Blast & similar aerosols that attack plastic. I use Birchwood Casey Synthetic Safe Gun Scrubber or PCB cleaner. Even then I give it a quick wipedown with CLP just in case...

I use Hoppe's 9 to clean the barrel then Lubricant Elite for oil.
I spray the entire exterior plus grip with Barricade as my firearms
see a lot of outdoor use.

Thanks for the advice so far....

So- Got a bore snake and CLP for quick cleaning at the range. For at home I got Hoppe's #9 for cleaning, Mobil 1 bearing grease for the rails, and orderd Smith & Wesson SW014 Dry Lube with Cerflon to lube the rest. I seem to recall someone recommending brake cleaner- does anyone else use that?

NO BRAKE CLEANER unless you would like the polymer frame ruined. PCB cleaner is what you probably thought was brake cleaner. You would want a synthetic safe cleaner like the Birchwood Casey brand.

Also, for almost 40 years I used Hoppe's 9 as a solvent, and for almost 40 years my wife made me clean my guns outdoors due to the odor. Now with the Mil-Comm products I can clean them indoors.

I've been useing Mil- Tec and love that stuff.I use a hair dryer to heat the oil in the metal parts, For the rails i mix some lubriplate # 105 available at any auto parts store with some mil-tec oil.Heat it up with the hair dryer, assemble, rack the slide a couple of times, wipe excess and you are good to go.Some people syy that the dry metal is not lubed but that is a wifes tale. Mil Tec is being used in the "Sand Box" and loved. The sand does not stick and your weapon does not get near as dirty.GOOD STUFF! In fact good enough for Sig to put some in the new case.

I follow Flork's guidelines as to where to apply. I use Lubriplate 105 as grease and Dexron III for oil since I ran out of Remoil. So far my rifles and pistol are running good.

I clean the barrel and slide with Winchester brand Break Free Powder blast, a cleaning rod and patches, followed by wiping the frame and rails with a shop rag, to remove any excess powder and dirt and then lube with TW 25B.

1. Are you using Breakfree CLP or a G96?
2. Do you use anything anything else for the rails?

Mike and Ken, welcome to the forum!

Mike, nice looking dogs sir!

I use #9 (love the smell), CLP, a good quality oil and mil-comm grease for the rails.

I thought I was the only one that loved the smell of old number 9. Lol. I have since I was a kid.
