Sig Sauer 1911-22 promo

I just received the following email from SIG regarding their current 1911 promote - buy a select 1911 and a 1911-22 free:

To our valued SIG SAUER® Consumers:

As a result of the overwhelming demand for our recent 1911-22 promotion, we are announcing that allocation of these promotional packages has been fully committed. While promotional product will continue to flow into dealer locations throughout February and March, we will no longer be accepting dealer reorders.

SIG SAUER would like to apologize for the confusion that this promotion has created in the marketplace. From the onset this was a limited supply promotion that was only available through participating dealers. Not all 1911’s and 1911-22’s in the marketplace are promotional firearms. Unfortunately, SIG SAUER is unable to identify participating dealers because the majority of the promotional packages were sold to distributors who service the national dealer network. We urge consumers to visit or call local dealers to determine if they are a participating dealer with promotional inventory available.

Again, SIG SAUER apologizes for the confusion that this promotion created and looks forward to continuing to provide the finest firearms available.

You've got to be kidding. A sale advertised to go on for 3 months over in less than a week?

Distribution has stopped, but the promo is still on...if you can find any.

Looks like their "Buy 1 Get 1 Free" promotion was a lot more popular than what Sig may have anticipated. At least they're selling a lot of 1911's!!!!

Actually they are not selling a lot. I read on the one other thread it was limited to 1000 units and all sold in three days roughly. So people like me who would have liked to get this deal missed out because it was over almost before it began. Kind of a stupid low limited quantity if you ask me. So now instead of buying a sig 1911 I will shop elsewhere because I do not want to buy from a company that puts on such a crappy sales promotion. Very disappointed in how limited this deal really was. It would have been better for them to just offer a percentage off of the normal price or a rebate because then less people would be left out like me.

I'm pretty hacked as well. I have an order in and the shop I was working with thinks I will be ok. We will see.

I was told today that my model, the Ultra Compact, which is on hold still, isn't part of the promo, so wouldn't be entitled, but "not to feel bad, because our distributor can't get any" what a total, mismanaged promo. The head of their Marketing/Promo dept should be fired. You offer a 3 month National promotion, your distributors fail to notify GS owners about the promo, that's full of *'s and loopholes! why not just tell us "you have to buy the left handed model that comes in pink, but you have to buy it on the third Tuesday, during a lightning storm, when it's high tide, the moon is in Sagittarius, and you have to have a nose bleed at time of purchase, and oh yeah, you have to be a red head and pregnant! Total bs! I don't care I'm not getting the .22, they're total ****, Sig doesn't even make them, and they're being discontinued, along with the select few models of 1911's, that's the reason for the promo. It's just a bait and switch, that's what's insulting. What a blunder.

The issue is that bait and switch is illegal in most states.

there are still internet dealers advertising and honoring this promotion... I ordered the Ultra Two Tone yesterday and was able to get the 1911-22 with it. You have to search, but they're still out there.

A dealer explained to me that Sig only issued the promos to distributors - not dealers. So if the dealer didn't have access to a distributor who had received these, then they were out of luck. The dealers had no advance notice of the promo, so when customers started calling and asking if they were participating, the dealers were clueless - and customers frustrated.

It obviously was handled poorly by Sig, but the promo is still available if you search....

So which models are they reportedly discontinuing? I realize they do cycle out some models from time to time but was just curious what was rumored to be on the chopping block. If it is the C3 I would probably try to get one soon but that one seems like it should be a good seller for them.
