Sig 2022 vs SR9C for Carry

I have a 2022 now and carry it in a Supertuck. It is not bad to carry, but I have always had my eye on the SR9C. I have looked at the measurements and they tell me the 2022 is slightly bigger. The biggest difference being the length of the barrel. Has anyone carried both and can comment on if the SR9C would be a better CCW?

I can't compare the SP2022 to the SR9c, but I do want to say Welcome to SIG Talk. (I know you joined last month; but this was your first post.)

I keep my SP2022 as my home defense gun, but carry the Ruger LC9 as my CCW; it's even smaller than the SR9c.

I've never really found bbl length to be the deciding factor in concealed carry.

I consider the SP2022 to be a superb pistol. Ditto the Ruger SR9. My SIL has the fullsize Ruger and it is a mule, a real Bullet Hose.

I THINK it might be a smidgen narrower at the butt than the 2022. Like the 2022, it has good, solid steel mags, too, not the thick Glock type mags with the damage and wear-prone plastic notches.

Welcom to ST!

Both are probably similar in quality & reliability. The best thing would be to go & check one out to see how it feels. The SR9c will have a shorter slide & grip which may help with CC. You also have the option of using a full size mag with it. I own a full size SR9 Gen. 2 & have 5,000+ flawless rounds through it so I'm confident in their reliability. Keep us posted & welcome to the site.

I carry the SR9c daily. It hides better than you think in a crossbreed. Shoots really well, especially for a $400 gun. For the money I think it's the best CC gun on the market. A friend had the Sig and personally I didn't find it that great( my opinion) and it was bigger than the Ruger.

I have carried my SP2022 9MM for A bit over A year now. IWB Holster. It carried well and was very comfortable. That said I am now moving my P226 40 into my cc Gun. While the 2022 shoots well and I am very happy with it, The 226 just feels like it belongs in my hand.

Does that mean you'll have to change your user name?

My dad has a SR9c and my best friend has an SR40. I just don't like them myself, shot them both plenty of times and I just can't warm up to the trigger on them. The grip is nice I just didnt like how it shot. The size of the 9c was nice for CCW though.

I have a 2022 and love it. It's my go-to range gun. I hung a light on it for those dimly lit indoor ranges. However if I was chooosing between those two for carry, I'd opt for the Ruger.

The Ruger may be shorter in length and height and thinner. All virtues for me if I only had one gun for EDC.

Haven't been able to carry either one (commiefornia) but have owned both (recently traded the sr9c for a p226) both are great guns and the sr9c is prob my favorite striker fired gun but it feels a lot smaller than the sp2022. The shape of the gun is also very carry friendly. So between the two I would say sr9c only because I feel the sp2022 is that much more bulky and would be more difficult to conceal.

I have a SP2340 which is the 2022 ver 1 basically with the only difference being the rail under the barrel. I also have a SR9C.

My carry gun is a G27 and I haven't carried either of the ones that you are asking about.

I actually love both of them and maybe the Sig a whisper more. The size and the trigger on the Ruger are great and superb. Barrel length, as you already know, is not a major factor in concealing a handgun as much as the height including grip which poses the challenge. The Sig is a wee bit bigger being .5" longer, 1.1" more in height, .3" wider and 5 oz heavier. The basic mag of both guns allows the Sig to carry 5 more rounds. Granted the Ruger can have a 17 round mag but the "hideability" is then gone.

I like having those 5 extra rounds and whenever I shoot my 2340 I come away thinking I just flat out need to shoot it more as the enjoyment is amazing.

I carry the Ruger as a truck gun and have the 2340 as the nightstand gun both loaded with HST rounds.

Choosing between those two would be a challenge but if the size for a CC is not a factor, to me the Sig offers more to compensate for the size and I would go with the Sig.
