22 conversions

I have a Sig 220 equinox with a sig 22 conversion set and it flat out refuses to feed.I'v tried all the ammos from the slowest to the fasest with not much luck with any of it. Spastic plastic mag is probably a major contributor!

With the conversion I have ran a few.

Thing I have found:

Make sure the guide rod spring is on the right way. Slide the spring off and test fit each end to find the smallest end. The slide that smallest ( tighter) end of the spring on first. But not all are like this. Just something to check.

Take a look at the plastic guide rod. You will see it is molded. If you feel the mold edges take some sand paper and smooth out the guide rod.

Take the mags apart. Look down in them they are also molded and there maybe some flashing (extra plastic)down in them. Get a small wooden dowel rood that will fit just loose in the round hole and take a saw and cit a slit in the end about 1 -2 inches. Then tear strip of sandpaper the same width and about 2 in long and slide it in the slot and then roll the sandpaper around the rod and inset into the mag and spin it around until you smooth ou the hole that the follower rides in. You may have to do this a few times.

The 220 mags are the worst. The mag release hole will wear quick thus allowing the mag to drop down just a bit. To test this load a mag and then push the mag all the way in holding the mag release button in ( dont slam it in as you will a metal mag) then tape it up so it will not move or drop. This will tell you if it is the mag.

Run this upper rather wet with lube. Not dripping wet but more than normal.

For the first 300-500 rounds only use CCI mini mag 22LR ammo.

For the first 300-500 rounds clean the gun fully every 50 rounds.

Do these things and check them and see if they help. If it dont PM me i can show you a few more things.

Jeff,I cleaned up the mag and found the problem is that the mag drops down a lot.I have a technique of holding it up tight with my pinkie and it will cycle every time.I've pushed the mag eject when I install it but maybe the previous owner did not.Other than a new mag is there a fix.

I would call Sig. And just say you have X amount of mags ( dont say your 2nd owner unless asked) and ask them if they can replace them.
