| Thinking about a new P229 SAS
I'm thinking about a .40 P229 SAS for my next Sig. Anyone bought one since they changed over to the new Grips? I talked to Top Gun Supply and I was told I could buy a kit to change the grips back to the old style.

A vote here for the old style! It should be pretty inexpensive to make the switch.

Have you any experience with the newer style grips? I see in your Sig that you currently own a P229 Elite (Lucky!!), but I would recommend checking out the newer grips if possible before making a judgement. I have seen kits allowing people with the older style grip to "upgrade" to a newer E2 grip, but nothing to convert backwards.

My favorite pistol is now my 9mm P229 SAS with the Hogue G10 grips. The previous owner replaced the grips. That gun is a sweet n smooth shooter and it now has about 700 to 800 rounds through it. When I take my concealed handgun class soon I will use this pistol. I would love to try a .40 cal P229. Dave |

I bought my last 229 just last monday. It had the old style screw grips but they didn't feel comfortable in my hands. I tried the new e2? one piece grips and they fit like a glove. Although that said, I do like the look of the old style better. I like the wood grips even better, but you cannot get those anymore - can you? I was going to order a New P229 SAS with the SRT Kit. But after reading all the problems with the new production, I stayed away from the SAS and found one locally in stock with the screw grips and short extractor. Yet to shoot it so hoping I got an old enough one that has no issues... Last edited by Fuzzybottoms; 03-08-2012 at 11:29 AM. Reason: added info |
