What weight is the recoil spring for a 226-
I was told to check for an orange color on the end of the spring but my old 226 *A 1993 build, has never had the spring changed. It is just black. What weight should I order from Midway....Thanks:confused::confused:

You want the orange colored end recoil spring, 16 LB, for the 9MM P226. You want to change them every 3000-5000 rounds and the same goes for the breach block pins which is very important for long life of the carbon steel slide P226.

You can also get the parts kit for your P226 which includes breech block pins, other springs, and grip screws for not much more.

Thank you for the reply. I will order the factory 16 lb spring in the morning from Midway. What would you suggest for my 1989 P220. Never had a spring change, or anything done to it other that oil and grease as needed. It just goes and goes. I was going to send it in and have it up graded last year but the CS people said they couldn't change out the front site as it was pinned (?) in, not like they are doing them now. The 226 is KD, 1993 built. I guess that's what happens when you get old and just keep your stuff with out upgrading. Thanks again.
