West German Sig's

I had posted the P226 vs P220 thread and got some good replies. I have been looking online at various guns and was thinking I might get a West German made Sig to start out. Mostly because I think it would be cool to have a gun with some historical significance being that there is no longer an East/West Germany. With that being said, I see lots of them for sale. Is there any thing to watch out for in terms of buying an older sig like that? Thanks in advance.

As long as they don't look abused they should be good to go. Below are 2 of them. The 'silver' 1 is a 1976 P220 9mm European. I had it refinished, but did not change out any parts. It is one of the best shooting Sigs I own. The other is a '95 that is all original (except the grips). they are fine pistols. I like them better than the new ones with rails.

Rjinaz, That 220 is beautiful. I never knew that had a Slide profile like that at anytime during manufacture.

I have a 92 P226 that I absolutely love.

Would that be an example of the "folded" carbon steel slide that I read about on earlier (?) W. German/German sigs? It has some terrific lines to it.

Not all of the folded slides have that profile.

My 92 P226 has the same slide profile as the new production guns. I would like to learn more about this profile though.
