Is the p226 frame the same as p226 .22lr?

If I buy a p226 .22lr for plinking and added a 9mm conversion kit would the gun be identical to a brand new p226 9mm?

The reason I ask is I can get a p226 .22 lr for $575 AND the 9mm conversion kit for $285, total cost = $860.

If I buy a p226 9mm AND a .22lr conversion kit, it would cost $825 for the gun and $285 for the kit, total = $1110.

What am I missing?

Thanks for the help!

Yup, exact same. I can't remember the price, but when you buy the 226 in .22 you get a coupon for 9mm upgrade.

Thanks for replying guys!

If the frames are identical then it would be a good deal for me to get the .22lr and the 9mm conversion kit.

I'll save a couple hundred bucks!

Sweet! thanks again.

John

Hey T34C,

Did you get the beavertail or classic version?

How does the 9mm run? Compliments/complaints...

Thanks again!

I did the .22LR Classic 226 and added a .357 sig top end.
Takes about 10 seconds to change.
My conversion kit works great and saved me money.

But I wonder if the new conversion top end is ever checked for accuracy by the factory..or just assembled, packaged and shipped.
My .357sig conversion kit is not the hammer I hoped it might be.
Probably me.

"Not the hammer I hoped it might be"

The .22 top end prints nice groups, roughly where I put them, with some touching groups showing good accuracy, imho.

With the .357sig conversion, I get no groupings, and the spread is seemingly random. I've shot regular 357 Magnums and 1911's for years so the recoil doesn't bother me too much. I got similar poor performance from several factory loads, so I don't think it's a unique problem to the ammo.
I have to get use to the pistol and the load, but I am disappointed with performance of the .357sig conversion kit.
It;s back home at Sig for an evaluation and trigger job. I'll see how it shoots when it gets back home.
Did I mention the original .22 classic LR Configuration is GREAT!
