P229 .357 LEO trade-in

So I came across a bunch of Sig P229 in .357 that were LEO trade-ins and I want your opinions. This particular company has a bunch up for sale in store and im really considering one because of the price, 349.00. The pics I was sent look like the firearm is in terrific condition. Some pics of the slide look like white is showing on the frames front rail, but I cant really tell. what do you guys think?

I really like my P229 in the 357 caliber. I would think that they would be a good buy. Good luck!

without a closer inspection of the rails I'd be leary. The one pic of the rails show what appear to be a wobbly rail.Pic 3 the top rail looks worn on the underside and it may just be the photo

yeah its hard to tell......im going to ask for a few better pics with flash on. The gun looks real clean though, it could be the lighting.

It looks pretty clean to me too...look for the "smilies" near the muzzle but remember that 357 SiG can "take the black off but that is only the finish...see if you can look/inspect the rails for actual wear...

Good Luck!

where are you seeing a wobbly rail?

wisehybred:
most leo trade-ins haven't been fired much, this one looks like holster wear & from what i can see, the rails look ok for $349.

I would never buy a pistol I have not held and inspected. that said, it's a good price, even if you "flip" it.

as far as adding one to my stable? the .357 is too expensive to feed, IMHO. I'm thiniing about replacing my 229 in .40 for a 9mm, since the 225 and 938 are 9mm

$349 on a non-rail 229/357, with chance for 2 or 3 s/n's, might be an exception.

Well this same company told me they got some 225s and 228s as well and I made a deal for three guns ended up with a pretty good deal IMO. 225 was $300 and 228 $325!
